Hi All

I have repaired the front of my mk7 golf 2.0 tdi after front impact.

I have put it all back together and cleared all the codes . this is the scan after the faults were cleared. I have no air bag or engine management lights on just an error meesage on start up saying proactive passenger protection not available.

any help much appreciated.

I forgot to mention in my original post that the seat belts were replaced . The electrical part on the original ones was attached to the new belts. As they were disconnected could it be they need coding in some way to the air bag module?

The airbag module is usually bolted to the "transmission hump" inside the center console, but check a repair manual for your car to be sure.

^^^^ yes - it's located at the firewall end of the "transmission hump" (under the air-con/heater unit) -but on mk7 Golfs, the module has a fairly robust lever (the bit that I have circled in the pic) ensuring positive connection-except in extreme circumstances, of course.

Suggestive that perhaps the wiring/connector problem might be downstream of the primary J234 socket - maybe?

The combination of the three of the fault codes you have point at it.

If you just had no comms with one of the pre-tensioners, and didn't have an explicit "Local Databus - Electrical Malfunction" code, then I'd suspect a problem with that pre-tensioner instead.

Hello, i repair alot of damaged golf 7 and 7.5 and usually come across this.
Are you sure the modules from the pretensioners are off the original car? If yes, check that they are plugged in properly or swop over the modules , passenger driver.
