2016 tiguan NAR to euro tail lights

hi guys. i have some trouble...
customer came to me with a tiguan 2016, imported from america. naturally with american taillights. turn signal and brake light are one. me, personally, i like this a lot, but here it's not allowed... so i have to convert it to euro tail lights with amber turn signals. i found out that in the connector there are swithced positions of turn signal, and nothing is connected to actual brake light. actually turn signal is connected to brake light bulb. i swithced them over and added a cable for the brake light. everything is in place now. signal for the brake light i got from the connector of the hitch, which is not used-there is no hitch module attached. and now i can not tell the bcm to separate the brake lights from the turn lights, and use the actuall brake light with the side marker light back, instead of using dialed down turn signal to complete the side marker...
i really hope you understood my sloppy description...

BCM PQ35.. Those are a PITA. You might have to get something that can edit the EEPROM.

Uwe may be correct here but the 5N2 (Facelifted 5N chassis) does have NAR documentation for Byte 18:

AD,Lighting: VW Tiguan (5N2/VW316) North American Region (NAR) with Halogen
AE,Lighting: VW Tiguan (5N2/VW316) North American Region (NAR) with Xenon

That doesn't help you because you aren't using NAR settings however both HEX AA and AB are marked (RoW) with Unknown lights. I would try both and get back to us with the results. If I was to guess I'd start with AB because of the Xenon lamps and AA is more likely IMO to be Halogen.

If both are accepted do make sure ALL outside lights work properly. Sometimes a rear fog lamp/reverse light can swap functions with a RF DRL and similar when you have wrong Byte 18 in conjunction with wrong-market wiring.

apparently the turn signal bulb has three functions on itself. turn signal, brake light and, dimmed-rear park light. NAR vehicles has also separate side-marker, which is one totally separate little bulb on the side.
so first task is to separate brake light from a turn signal.
yup, uwe is right, as always-eeprom had to be rewritten.
second challenge was to wire BCM with the separate left and right brake lights. connectors A (black) pin 26 and C (brown) 4. pins are present in the BCM (thank god for that!) but not wired in the harness. so after wiring the pins with the actual taillights comes the third task. getting the brake light to dim in order to achieve dual function-
brake/parking light. otherwise there are parking lights only on the tailgate. not nice... side marker is restricted in it's own confinement cell and doesn't affect the overall parking light. the whole thing goes blank, with small red light on the side and lights up only with brake light.
it was fun, so to say...
a guy, friend of a friend of the customer came and we had long lasting sex with this BCM... but in the end it all clicked into place.
if i may suggest-if there is even slightest possibility to make all this using vcds it will be priceless!
