Good evening all

First time poster so please be gentle

I own a 2007 VW T5 2.5 BNZ, bought it last year. So far ive had the turbo reconditioned, ive replaced the N75 module, the EGR cooler (bladder had crapped itself), i have also replaced the EGR and the throttle body.

Most of these have been replaced as codes where showing that they weren't operating right and have fixed most of the issues however i am unable to resolve what seems to be the last issue that is causing the coil light of death to come on.

So, I clear the codes using VCDS lite, i can start the van with no issues, i can drive the van around on normal roads around 30 - 40 with absolutely no issue what so ever, however if i take it onto the motorway as soon as i get up to around 60mph sometimes more sometimes less the coil light comes on, as soon as i stop and turn the ignition off and on it resets itself and i can carry on, sometimes i may be able to complete my journey other times ill get the coil light a few times. It does seem to come on more and quicker when its colder but not just sure if that is coincidence or not. if i clear it as well and turn the ignition on but dont start the engine the coil light will also come on after about a minute which im assuming is due to it going through some sort of cycle.

As mentioned above I have fitted a new throttle body to the van and i have read that i need to complete a throttle body alignment however when i type the code 60 into the group on the basic settings i get an error message "Error Group 60 Not Available", i have tried typing the same code into the meas blocks and it just stays blank. I contacted the support team and was told that the alignment is not available for my van as it is a diesel and not a petrol so i am now at a loss. One other thing i should mention is that when i look at the readiness option in 01 engine it says all is ok apart from the EGR which shows as failed or incomplete, i have checked that the new cooler is operating properly using the test on VCDS lite but I need to get access to view if the EGR itself is operating properly which im going to try and do over the weekend, is it possible that the the two of these are linked.

I am at a complete loss now as i just assumed the TBA would solve the P2015 issue but being told i cant do it has left me stranded. Please find below the auto scan from 2 days ago, I should also add, whilst this reading was done with VCDS lite, i did also try to complete a TBA using my mates full version of VCDS with HEX CAN+ dongle and got the same error.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I'm not familiar with that engine. Have you got a picture of this "Throttle Body" that you replaced?

I don't see anything in the data for this engine that suggests any sort of Basic Setting or Adaptation for the Intake Manifold Flap, nor is an "Implausible Signal" code indicative of needing such a thing.

If the replacement throttle is not a cheap CRAP (Chinese Replacement Auto Part), then problem is in one of three wires:
-T60/19 - 1
-T60/56 - 2
-T60/41 - 3

P.S. I have seen enough wiring damages in T5 engine compartment to be suspicious in that direction.

Hi Uwe
The response I had from Ross tech was that the 2.5 never made it to the state’s so maybe this could be the problem. The BNZ engine replaced the original AXD around 2006 / 2007, and I’ve seen a few videos on YouTube showing how to align the part on diesel cars but just can’t seem to do it.
Not sure how to add pictures but if you google this part number it will come up A2C53098068
Cheers

Hi Martinsx

I have de pinned the connector and traced it back 10 - 15 cm from the connector and it all looks ok, might have to trace it all the way back though to the ECU, don’t suppose you happen to know what pins each one goes to on the ECU so I can test each wire. Parts are genuine OE bought as well, not Chinese rubbish.
Cheers

Could you please show which YouTube show basic setting on intake throttle on a diesel ?
You can use [Output tests-03].

As far as I can see, your problem is intake manifold flaps.
Either to big clearance (axle/flaps), wiring for N239 (maybe around starter).

Hi NETech

You seem to be right with regards to the YouTube tutorials. I can’t seem to find any that specifically say diesel TBA. The ones I did find show a very similar part so just assumed that mine would need aligning too.

Think you might be right about the wiring though so that will be the next thing I’ll check, little confusing though that the old throttle body threw fault code P2112 which is the flap stuck closed which couldn’t be right otherwise the engine would cut out. But since I put the new throttle body on I get the code p2015 instead now. All very confusing and slightly annoying at the same time, just want the van to run now without any lights coming on.

Cheers
