Hello.
Have a very strange problem with a Skoda Octavia.
Car came to me with an error on the Steering Assist .. I thought , easy peasy , callibrate the steering and all should be ok..
TO Note : Problem started when the owner changed himself the ignition lock as the old one was broken.
He changed the ignition lock and since then the problem started ... so he claims..
Can not perform adaptation on Steering Assist. I can feel the electric motor works as I get feedback (can also read torque from it) , I can read all channels and voltage and so long , but the angle is always 0.
Problem is that when I look to Measuring blocks, the steering angle will ALWAYS stay 0 degrees, no matter if I turn wheel all the way left or all the way right..
Engine started, car driving , car at idle ... no matter what.
Same 0 degree angle if seen in ABS module.
Questions :
1. Is the steering angle sensor G85 sending info directly to the Steering Assist module 44 or ALSO to the ABS block ?
Adaptation can be made only on ABS module in this car as far as I can see.
2. IF I have an error on the ABS module (in this case a front wheel bearing had let go) will it be impossible to calibrate steering assist ?
I have tried with 3 different G85 sensors (the one under the slip ring) and 2 different module 16: Steering wheel , results are always the same.
Even tried another slip ring as I was thinking some shorted wires might be the problem.
