Any one seen this code before? It happened once today at my office on my way home. Happened again an hour ago on my driveway on my way to get fuel. Then once again when I stopped at the coin op car wash to give it a quick wash.

Funny enough all times I tried starting it via the starting button then nothing happened; just a click. I then keyed it then it fired right up.

Terminal 30 @ 10.5V makes me clinch my eyebrows...

What do you all think...I'll throw in a new battery this week when I'm doing brakes...considering the battery is original...

The starter...does it require the entire motor / tranny assembly to be dropped to replace? Just want to prepare myself mentally for a worse case scenario SHTF scenario...

Thanks.

Please post a full Auto-Scan, do not edit it down.

5456 - Starter Will Not Turn
P3054 00 [046] - Jammed or Electrical Malfunction

Basically the ECM is saying "I'm doing what I can to power up the starter and I ain't seeing the crank a spinning". The starter could be going bad, or the starter is not getting a good Terminal 50 signal to fire up the starter. The electrical path for the Terminal 50 of the starter goes through 2 relays, the J906 and J907. And then there is a T17e/17 connection as well (location unknown to me). If any of these items have a poor electrical/mechanical connection, it could cause this issue.

An old battery could be the issue, so it is possible that replacing it is the fix.

Doesn't look like you've got to drop the engine/trans to replace the starter if needed. The alternator is pulled, then that seems to give room for the starter to be pulled.

OP did you take a jumper cable and put to chassis and engine & the other to battery ground to authenticate the connections too?

Just to get it clarified, when engine won't turn by means of pressing button, it turns/cranks and engine starts every time you use key?
If I understand your post, can you please test and confirm this a few times? Use button, if no start, use remote and shut down car, use remote to open door (activate car) and then try again with button. If still no crank/start, use/turn key and see if this starts engine, looking fwd for your response.

Regards
Gremling

That's a good point Gremling, I think implying the alarm anti crank mechanism maybe active or faulty, also FYI don't some cars get this code if a judge at some point required a sobriety meter be installed in a car for a convicted alcoholic too?

Yes. I tried jumper pack as well as jumper cables to a known good battery. It still starts up.

Well lucky me I don't have that to worry about...Also alcoholics do not get convicted under the Criminal Code of Canada. You CAN get convicted for operating a motor vehicle under the influence...albeit not necessary only under the influence of alcohol...

Anyways back on topic...

I threw in a new battery last Tuesday February 25th. Then today again just as I was stepping out of the office the starter did a click again. This time I hit the start button again and it fired right up.

I scanned it just now...

I am having a hunch it might have something to do with that reverse switch code. Anyone seen that before? Where would that switch be...

Thank you all.
