Hi and thanks for any advice,

2016 Passat SE with Tech, 1.8L, ~51k miles. Bought the car new and never any issues until performing a simple battery change.

I changed the battery last week and have the following codes. I tried to clear them but they won't. I'm not an expert with VCDS-I use it once every few years at most. This morning while doing the Auto Scan, there was a high-pitched noise coming from the engine bay--like computers communicating. I had the hood opened to verify the sound location. This sound was not present a few days ago while doing the Auto Scan.

Can someone please point me in the right direction for the fix?

There were no dash lights on prior to battery change

I notice you have a module #61 for battery management, when you changed the battery did you tell this module with VCDS that you had changed the battery (by entering a different serial number)?

No, I didn't know I had to do anything with VCDS after a battery change. I replaced it with an Interstate battery. What SN do I use?

Just change one digit, any digit, from the value that's there - all the BEM needs to see is a different serial number for it to reset all it's power calculations and relearn for the new battery.

I watched the Battery Coding video on Ross-Tech site. I don't have address 19 UDS. My channel 19 CAN was not like the one in the video. My address 61 had a Long Adaption 0A option with drop down box Battery Information/Replacement. Clicked on it and automatically went to channel 4. Had a 3 digit, 3 digit, 10 digit value. I increased the 10 digit value by 1, Test and Saved. Didn't change anything. Did a full scan, tried to clear codes but couldn't and took it for a 3 mile test drive. No change.

Thought maybe the multi-function steering wheel fuse was blown and did a search to locate it. During the search, I read about the clock spring. Cars with a bad clock spring experience the same issues I have; no horn, air bag light, buttons on wheel don't function. I do have the wrench on dash but need the steering wheel buttons to function in order to clear it. Wrench light was not on before battery change.

Maybe I need a longer test drive to work in AM?

This is my wife's car and she said the steering wheel as "clicking" the other day. This only happened once and was after the battery change. I thought it was the electro-mechanical steering?

Any other place to check?

Jim: hmm........ I'm not an expert on the Passat, but relying solely on the hope that the dates in your autoscan can provide diagnostic insight - I note the following from your scan report:

Scan date= 2020.02.23
DTC dates:
Lots errors on 2020.02.19 -is this when you changed the Battery? Shirley not - were you up @ 01:06:10 hrs?
1 x DTC (module hex13) on 2020.02.21 (~ 00:02 hrs)

Have you tried clearing ALL DTCs and then repolling the modules to ascertain which errors remain?
