hi,we have had this car in our workshop for a service , when it arrived the eml indicated a fault p0405 egr excessive flow ( not using a vdcs ) during the service the throttle body was cleaned as was the egr valve .upon restarting the epc warning light was on and the eml . i had a quick look on the net and seen posts about resetting the throttle and egr which i did but with no change to the poor idle . i also carried out a reset of the stored values followed by a reset of the throttle and egr . i have tried a different map sensor with no change and tested for an air leak around the manifold but i was unable to find a cause . I hope someone here has the answer or will be able to point me in the right direction.

Evening.....my experience with these you'll have a map sensor depending on engine size/code. You have what I would call star ship mileage on that old girl. Early ones on throttle body adaption with age youd end up replacing engine ecu because it wouldnt take the adaption.

The pipework from egr to throttle body base plate can get blocked....clean as required.

The other way Is readapt both with engine warm- lock the car and leave for 30 mins. Retry. It has worked on some. May disconnect battery for 30 mins that may reset.

Failing that potential EGR issue are not uncommon or throttle body.

Agreed............

Hey did you know these cars are like the ABA in the USA with a TV and the TV must move back 5 MM before it can commence forward to count the idle control stepper position?

Is the throttle cable too tight and causing the adaption to fail?

Did you try lubing the TV plate and make sure it moves backward first by massaging it & to see the zero marker of stepper is possible seeing if cable is running any interference?
