New to VW VCDS and this forum. The availability of this community is a large part of the reason we opted to own a VW. Thank you in advance for your assistance.

I have a new to me 2011 Jetta Sportswagen TDI Manual. Starts runs fine revs fine. Put it in gear and it will move but then starts to buck and act starved. Drive it about 2 miles and the glow plug light will blink with check engine light and will drive normally. Turn it off and process repeats.

Is there a torn intake, loose boot connection from turbo charger to TV or is turbo failing to achieve boost?

Any obstructions in air intake scoop or air box and is exhaust flowing proper without a restriction?

Did you log with VCDS or pressure test the system for boost path?

Are these faults confirmed in the OBD2 side of scan in Mode 3 too?

We plan to dig further tomorrow. It is Saturday and will be a little warmer here in Ohio.

One question is whether the dates on these codes makes any difference. They seemed to be recorded back in 2014 but maybe I am not understanding that correctly or it is not important. I need to look up how to log the boost side in mode 3 as you mentioned.

Audibly I would note I do not hear any turbo whistle. I have a 2013 that is in need of a front clip but moves and it is fairly easy to hear the turbo. Then again it does not have an intercooler connected at the moment so that is not a completely fair comparison. We will test it in VCDS and log it.

On the P2015 I was wondering if I disconnect the valve if it would prove or disprove it as a cause. IE if the flap/valve is shutting radically or unable to travel appropriately would disabling it allow a test to see if it is the cause of the behavior. Or would that put it into limp in mode which, when the vehicle reaches that condition, allows the 2011 to operate without bucking.

If you have any other test suggestions please let me know.

You mean to Test, Repair or replace never disable an AECD, right?
