Hi All. My uncle who purchased 3 licenses kindly let me borrow his vcds to run codes to help troubleshoot why I continue to see a parasitic drain. He’s never posted on here but if it’s a concern with me posting on his behalf let me know and I’ll have him call to get squared away and try to repost through his email.

I recently replaced my battery and alternator (reman) - I know bad idea in the reman. Took the reman back after checking diode and failed. Second one passed so I installed however the drain is still there. I’ve pulled all fuses and tested and the only way to get the draw down to reasonable level (20mA or so) is to pull the d pin (think it’s the exciter wire, opposite of the B+). When pulling that it goes from 600 mA down to about 20 mA.

I have already ordered an OEM alternator to remove that variable however if the alternator tests pass for diode etc. is there something else going on as well?

A couple other notes
- all fuses and relays were pulled; no noticeable difference in draw drop.
- voltage at the single wire (d pin / exciter wire) is around 11 V. Should this be 0 or slightly representative of the battery voltage?
- tested multiple multi meters to double check
- pulled fuses three times to triple check.
- battery is a day old and tests fine.
- alternator pulled out passes diode test on multi meter set to diode mode.

My uncle left but will be back in another week so I only have the email he sent me of the codes. I’ve pulled out the ones that show malfunction but if there is anything else noteworthy please don’t hesitate to ask. We’ve been running in circles on this one. Hoping it’s just the reman alternator but in the meantime until it arrives I’m open to double or triple checking other areas to be sure. Thanks in advance.
