Error code with dates in the future

HC800959 (2nd hand)
I use a HEX + CAN interface for VW T6 of 2017.
after a auto-scan with VCDS 19.6.2, I find error codes with dates of 2026 and 2033.

Why are the dates not correct?
The problem is it a bad time management in the calculator or a version too old my ross-tech interface.

Sometimes those dates are "relative" rather than absolute, and if the offset isn't correct, well....

^^^^^Look at RT's magnificent video HERE. This video has a dual purpose, but if you start at about 2:19 minutes, you will learn how to generate an Adp (or, "admap") for individual control modules like the cluster (which VCDS identifies as the "Instrument" module @ address hex17 -see your auto-scan).

At about 2:33 minutes into the video choose different options as follows:
For an Adp:
Single controller address = 17
Under "Function", tick Adaptations
Under "output", click the CSV file radio button

the set-up should look like this, (but use "17", instead of "09" in the pic:

For a MWB map, again enter 17 into Single controller address, but tick Measuring values under Function


For each type of map - then just press the Go button and magic stuff will happen!!

You only have the adaptations here. I'm looking specifically for IDE00819: Day counter . On a Passat NMS with the same ASAM ID, it's only present in measuring values.

With the tool 'Controller Channel Map' option Single Controller adress on 17,
I do not have a CSV file generated for Measuring value.
I only have a CSV file for the Adaptations but there is no value IDE00819

is what I use the right method?

Measuring values should be in a CSV file starting with "blockmap-17".

Wait, you have a HEX-USB+CAN... that's why. Connect to 17 manually, enter "day" in the search field, select something that matches "day counter", and save/screenshot the value VCDS displays.

in manual mode, the value is 1245d for IDE00819.

^^Eric: What a fascinating thread and what an extremely interesting question - what is the format of the date field on OBD?

I just pulled a random hex17 module from my database: the IDE00819 value is 206 for the admap date 13 August 2018 (confirmed by the year, month, day, channel values in the module).

If I'm not violating Ross-Tech commercial secrets - what is the conversion algorithm to human date (Please don't tell me to read the Standard)?

What standard?

"OBD Standards" only apply to generic OBD-II /EBOD data, which this isn't.

^^^Uwe: my question (and your response) clearly confirms that I don't understand the "OBD Standards"!!

When I look back on my (fortunately) unremarkable life, its one of my many regrets. Hopefully there's still time and it's on my bucket list - but much alcohol is required before I get the courage to buy a copy of the Standards and then even more drink is needed to fortify the grey-matter in my head before opening the first page of the document.

But I do envy anyone who can refer to the OBD standards with authority -respect!!

Sorry, I can't make sense of it. The freeze frame, when it depends on the day counter, is supposed to be in the past compared to the time you're scanning. I see that your VCDS autoscan has the correct date, yet those FF dates are ahead of the scan's date. I was thinking maybe the day counter would be a very high or somehow negative value, but your day counter looks normal. Even then it would hardly explain the two different years. Either it's a new freeze frame format we don't understand, or your engine got the date from the cluster wrong. A scan with ODIS would tell us which it is.
