Hi to all. I am totally new at this. Had issues with my sharan because it had adblue and dpf software removed by previous owner. Check engine light came on several times during 30000 km,with message NOx sensor 2 bank 1 P229 E 00- electrical malfunction, and this was a reason to change it. The story short, I did a SW update at the dealer and everything was active again. Adblue heater, was permanent fault that was not possible to erase and I have changed it and it is gone now. On the other hand the NOx sensor message is back and I have no solution. It is possible to delete it but it keeps coming back. The sensor is new so I doubt that it is also faulty. Any ideas ?

Got you Verified. You weren't verified previously because you used a different e-mail address for the forum than the one you used when you registered your HEX-V2, and you didn't provide a serial number when you joined the forum either. Now moving to Car Repair Support.

The fault codes tells you which sensor it is and states "Electrical Malfunction". What have you done to trouble-shoot this so far? The sensor could be bad, or there could be a problem with the wiring to it.

The wiring is OK. Voltage feed is fine. Tried SCR efficiency test. Aborted - safety reasons after some 10 mins. Like I wrote, the sensor is new, just replaced, but the fault is the same like it was on the old one. I am gonna mount back the original sensor, and see what happens

do you know the reason why they cutt off DPF ? maybe ECU faulty ?or maybe they damage ecu while open to read SW ??
you restore SW , but maybe is HW issue ?

As much as I know it was a faulty adblue heater, and due to previous owner was a cheap bastard he decided to kill the adblue and(probably) dpf with software solution. When doing autos can before software was updated it always showed the same values for soot, oil ash.... The only parameter that was changing was the distance and time since last regen. This number was about 30000km :(. After software update start stop was functional, vcds was registering dpf regen cycles... Warning light was activated for adblue heater. After changing the part this fault was gone. The problem with NOx2 from the first thread is still actual. Interesting thing is that it shows after random scans, and check engine light comes afterwards(cca 200 km after registered fault)

If the ecu is faulty, shouldn't it be obvious and readable by vcds?

The system under test (the ECU) is the system that does the test and reports its condition. VCDS just reads the conditions reported.

So the answer to your question is: Maybe... but not necessarily obvious.

That is if the ECU is functional enough to run its internal tests and report the results, then we can know what is malfunctioning.

If the ECU is not functional, then it may not give details.

If SW update not fix a problem, and wires / sensors is 100% good - swap ECU even with IMMo OFF to test
