I have an '06 Audi A3 8p with 2.0T FSI motor. I'm familiar with using VCDS-Lite with my prior '01 GTI VR6, but purchased the Ross-Tech HEX-V2 and am using VCDS 19 to work on my Audi.
I was recoding the instruments to remove the brake pad warning. The pads/brakes are good, but there's obviously the common fault in the wiring, so I wanted to disable it rather than cut and splice the harness. I thought recoding would better allow allow a repair later. In any case, I changed the code by reducing by 1 the 5th digit. Below you can see the screen showing the codes before changing anything. I changed the code from 0002263 to 0002163. After accepting the code the fuel gauge showed no gas (tank is full), and a series of warning symbols started complaining about number plate lights, brake lights, rear lightbulbs, out of gas and still the brakes warnings. I changed the value back, the warnings went away (but the brake pad warning is of course still there) and the fuel gauge is very slowly rising.

I turned off and stepped away. Having set the code back the I now noticed the equipment number is missing it's last digit.
I changed it to put back that missing digit, and it says recode OK, but still shows the shorter code number. Not sure if this is relevant to my issue.
