Hi all i’m trying to figure out if my 3 year old agm battery in my B8 Passat is failing. Firstly i have one of those conductance testers. My battery is rated at 680 a (EN). My tester reads between 577/608. I have tested against a new battery and a friends battery ( indenticle who’s is 4 years old) and they read over at 750 amps.
One thing i have noticed a few times is i get the “power consumption is high” and start stop might not work for 15/20 miles but the start stop mostly works ok. Another thing i have noticed is when i start the car on a cold morning the heated steering wheel sometimes turns itself on.
So for the vcds readings. I took a reading and it says SOC 58%. Available AH 16ah ( battery rated 68ah)However i took a reading the followin day and it said SOC 82% and available AH 29ah.
The car doesn’t do any short runs, i do 600 miles a week. Any opinions on my battery? Surely a AGM would last longer than 3 years?
