    2018 Audi R8 EVAP P0441 Code Help

    Hi,
    I'm new to VCDS and Audi's and just finished installing an ESS supercharger kit on an `18 R8 V10+ car. I am having some issues with P0441 and P0451 codes and some EGR and EGT codes. As part of the installation, we were required to relocate the two EVAP solenoids to the engine valley from the brackets on the cylinder heads (for supercharger intake manifold clearance); I took great care to make sure none of the hoses were kinked and the wiring was plugged in prior to the manifold being installed. I am a novice at these cars but not to installs as I have a shop that does other models. I wanted to post here first in hopes there might be some insight as to how to diagnose what is going on with the EVAP. I have checked vacuum both of the hoses going to the intake plenum and they are holding vacuum (will hold 15" for about 5 minutes without moving). I tried to do an output test on the N80 solenoid and was getting a failure code that the controller could not complete the operation. I will post my autoscan here below.     Hello,

    I wanted to post here first in hopes there might be some insight as to how to diagnose what is going on with the EVAP.

    The fault code P0541 will set when the Natural Vacuum Leak Detection (NVLD) Switch during a 'Functional Check' was found to be "Stuck Close".

    The fault code P0441 will set when the ECM detects there is an 'Evaporative Emissions' flow concern.

    With both of these fault codes, it will be necessary to check the N80-EVAP Canister Purge Regulator Valve 1, the J909-Fuel Tank Leak Detection Control Module and check the EVAP System for Leaks. The R8 also uses the G400-Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor.

    We recommend to use the Official Factory Repair Information, there are step by step tests for each of the above fault codes, including component locations, wiring diagrams and more.


    I tried to do an output test on the N80 solenoid and was getting a failure code that the controller could not complete the operation.
    - Start the engine, let it idle, then turn off the ignition and wait for 10 seconds. Then turn the key back (engine off) on and try the [Output Tests] again, sometimes it is necessary for an engine start to perform the [Output Tests] .

    If all else fails and everything looks to be okay, I would contact the creators of the " ESS supercharger kit" and see if they may have a good answer, since it sounds like these faults were not per-existing concerns.

    Game plan is to make sure the EVAP lines from the canister to the purge valves are to factory design. If that checks out good, contact tuner.

    2018 Audi R8 EVAP P0441 Code Help

    Hi,
    I'm new to VCDS and Audi's and just finished installing an ESS supercharger kit on an `18 R8 V10+ car. I am having some issues with P0441 and P0451 codes and some EGR and EGT codes. As part of the installation, we were required to relocate the two EVAP solenoids to the engine valley from the brackets on the cylinder heads (for supercharger intake manifold clearance); I took great care to make sure none of the hoses were kinked and the wiring was plugged in prior to the manifold being installed. I am a novice at these cars but not to installs as I have a shop that does other models. I wanted to post here first in hopes there might be some insight as to how to diagnose what is going on with the EVAP. I have checked vacuum both of the hoses going to the intake plenum and they are holding vacuum (will hold 15" for about 5 minutes without moving). I tried to do an output test on the N80 solenoid and was getting a failure code that the controller could not complete the operation. I will post my autoscan here below.     Got some feedback.... some vacuum lines were swapped up and a reversed check valve. OP got it sorted out the EVAP system is happy. I've asked for some photos detailing so that the next person who installs a ESS supercharger kit on an R8 has a heads up about this. It seems that the vacuum lines no longer fall into place thus a bit of confusion can happen, instruction unclear..... ceiling fan...

    When confused, Confucius say...... Only fool is sure he does not forget the line configuration in 2 seconds when pretty girl walks by ....... There would be no confusion if marking hoses with colored tape, shrink wrap or paint markings, especially when playing FOD fuckaroo modified!

    Thanks for the help. I pulled the supercharger back off and carefully re-traced the purge flow and found the issue(s). The N80 valve was installed with the flow direction the wrong way and the inlet line to the tee was going to the intake manifold vacuum source not the side with the tank purge. I corrected the hoses and valve, re-assembled everything and the state test passed just fine. The code is gone now after several drive cycles.
