2007 Octavia Scout, ABS Module MK60 Wiring

    Hi all,

this is my first post and I must say VCDS and this forum seem very impressive. I only learned about it after searching for a scanner for my vehicle.

Anyway, I have an ABS problem with my vehicle. It started after I had a broken engine swapped for a second hand one. I found a broken ABS sensor on the rear right which I have replaced, but unfortunately that didn't solve the ABS and ESP lights permanently on.

I expect it's the ABS module, but before buying a new one, or getting this one repaired, I'm testing the wiring and fuses to the ABS module, which was suggested in a different post.

The fuses seem to be fine as does the ground wiring.

I measured the two thick wires at the top of the plug to the ABS unit, one red and one red/green. The red wire shows power, but the red/green one doesn't.

So my question is should the red/green wire have power on it?

Thanks in advance for any help and advice,

    Jo.

    Not VCDS related.

Did you consider if a test light can be illuminated from both wires one to ground and power at ABS pump and one from B+ to other wire at PUMP?

Does the pump operate when completing the ground at motor?

    Thanks for your reply.

Sorry, I didn't know that my ABS problem isn't VCDS related. I'll try to post my question in the correct category next time! Perhaps someone can move it?

I've only measured with a voltmeter as I'm abroad at the moment and have a limited supply of tools here. I'll give it a go with a test light as soon as I'm back.

May I ask what you mean with "Does the pump operate when completing the ground at motor"? Should I ground the motor directly?

    Thanks,
    Jo.

You understand what a question mark is right?
Do you know the difference between current and voltage?

OK thanks, I understand what you mean.
I'll buy a test lamp tomorrow and give it a go.

Both wires should have constant voltage. Typical fault of MK5 based cars. Look for damaged wire somewhere behind battery/under battery try. This plastic shit with sharp corners use to cut insulation, water, dirt and salt from road gets into wire and You got insulation tube with green powder instead copper wire inside

Thanks a lot for your advice MartinsX, it was exactly as you described. Green powder instead of copper wire inside!
For now I soldered it back together. I hope it lasts until it gets warmer and then I'll replace the wire.
