Oil pressure measuring blocks

Hi, I can't seem to find a measuring block for oil pressure when connected to my mk5 golf gti?

Is this because the sole oil pressure sensor only detects when the pressure drops below a set value rather than continually measuring the oil pressure?

Is it a sensor or just a switch, what does the WD show and describe it as?
