Hi, I have a situation involving cam timings in VCDS. I redid the timing on a 05 Audi S4 4.2L with all new chains, guides and tensioners and checked mechanical cam gears also which was good. The issue is that the car runs great and idles great also. When i would read blocks 091, 092 and 093 (also included what the values are down below) they would show that its out of time. When I finished the timing, I rotated the engine a few times to make sure all was still in time and it was. Since the engine was ran, I pulled valve covers and put back on TDC with locking pin and still the timing is spot on.
I'm at a loss right because the car runs great though have not driven it yet as I'm to afraid i might mess something up. It revs great, no hesitation or anything of that nature.
What could be the cause. It is a cabriolet S4 and had water on the inside on driver side floor boards from previous owner. I replace the CCM with a correct one because they had one from a sedan. Ive replaced all relays and fuses under the ECU cover and cleaned all connections. I have not looked inside the ECU yet to see if water had got in but did disconnect one of the plugs to it to see if any corrosion was there but looks clean and brand new still.
No hesitation in starting. No chain rattle either when starting. Starts in one to two seconds every time no mater warm or cold.
Possible bad: ECU?
Cam Solenoids?
Cam Sensors?
Wiring?
