Hi All,

It has been 3 years, 9 months and 6 days since my last post !

I have recently installed a RCD330 (and more up-to-date CAN gateway) into a 2007 VW EOS, and this has mostly been an easy and highly effective upgrade from the original unit. However, I am still left with a couple of errors (not too worried) and one feature not working that I need some help with.

The car has fitted original Park Assist rear parking sensors, and I would like this displayed on the screen. I have tried various options (including coding a reversing camera I don't have) and the head unit is recognising that reverse has been selected, but will not display the parking sensor graphics on the screen. Any ideas?

The old PDC control unit at address 76 doesn't support the OPS (Optical Parking System) feature. You would need to replace the module with a newer one and rewire the CAN connection from (IIRC) Comfort CAN to Drivetrain CAN as the newer modules are no longer on address 76, but address 10. The parts catalogue lists 1Q0919475A as a suitable module for Eos with only rear sensors.

Many thanks for your reply, and along the lines I suspected. I understand the requirement for the new module, but not the rewire part. Could you please expand on what would need re-wiring where?

The new PDC module is on another of the car's CAN networks, which is sepearate from the one the current old module is on. Hence the need to rewire. Fortunately its only 2 wires.

You would need to run a CAN twisted pair from the CAN gateway, whose location you should already be aware of, to the PDC module. In a LHD car, the PDC module is located behind the cluster, to the left. Since yours is most likely RHD, it should be opposite. Remove the driver's side dash end cover (between dash and door) and you should see it laying flat on it's bracket.

I don't have the exact schematics handy at the moment, hope someone will chime in on this. There's probably a repin of the PDC 16pin plug in order, in addition to running the new CAN wires.
