Morning all,
So, issues with my 2003 A4 Quattro 1.8T.. car has been engaging limp mode (P0601 memory check sum error)
My trusty mechanic says my beautiful A4 has an aftermarket ECM (has been chipped).. and without identifying it, repairing is not an option.. looking at ECM replacement.. (??)
I am wanting to know if there is a way to identify what aftermarket ECM/chip I have on board, without completely destroying it. It would be a shame to resort to what I assume would be a lower spec ECM configuration without exploring the possibility of repairing/replacing the current chip.. (whatever it happens to be), or failing that, perhaps replacing with another aftermarket chip.
My A4 came from Japan.. suspect aftermarket tinkering was undertaken there..
Any suggestions people? Identifying a non-standard ECM?
Thanks,
