P173B - Gear Position Distance Sensor 2 : Implausible Signal

Hi

Suddenly this morning my Passat decided only to run on Gear 1 and Gear 3. It is skipping Gear 2 and not going any further than Gear 3. Also it is not running at all in reverse gear. I got this code P173B after running computer diagnostic.

If anyone can please give some information about the fix would be really appreciated
