Hi, This is my first post to the forum and am a new user of vcds.
I have a 2006 Skoda Roomster 1.9tdi Pd which I bought a couple of months ago, unfortunately the seller was less than honest about issues the car had. So far I've had to have the ECU reflashed with a virgin instal, and now am battling through a list of things to get her back to tip top condition before her MOT.

My main problem is that whenever I try to log in to adapt the three keys I have (one original and two replacement) to the immobiliser it refuses. I get "FAIL" on the instrument cluster and a message saying "Login lost due to dropped session".
Now before anyone says it..... I have a genuine Ross Tech Hex-V2 cable purchased from Ilexa in the UK.
I had a locksmith come out who tried to code keys for me but couldn't,(faulty remote boards) but he did code the immob transponders. He gave me the four digit code for the cluster at the same time ( I also had the code verified by the tech guy who sorted out my ECU when he came to refit it).

I have no idea what is going on with the system as everytime I input the code with 0 in front it refuses to access.

The two replacement keys will open and start the car but the immob light will flash all the time if they are used. It may be unrelated but my fuel gauge has also gone into reverse as well fluctuating ohm reading of 293 - 294 ohms (And for some reason all my windows dont work and VCDS says they are not installed but that's another fault for later )
If anyone has any ideas I'd be grateful to hear them.
Many thanks
Ben

What was working/not working before you flashed the ECU? Or what was the reason to flash the ECU?

Check status of each key in the ignition by looking at 25-Immobilier, MVBs 022, 023, and 024.

Hi.
The car had its original ECU fried by a previous owner jump starting it, when the car arrived I found it had two ECU's in it one in the boot (fried) and the other in the engine bay. I sent it away to be checked but it came still with too many glitches in it. so many in fact that when a specialist came to pair it all up, he couldn't do it (he was outside in the rain for four hours). he took it away to be checked again and they did a virgin installation so it was as if it had come from the factory new. He came and installed it and the engine fired up ok. Because the ecu wasn't working properly the immob kept kicking in two seconds after starting.

Ok just popped out to the car MVB data as follows...

Original Key:
022 - Field 1= 1 Field 2 = 0 Field 3= 1 Field 4= 2
023 - Field 1= 1 Field 2 = 1 Field 3= 1 Field 4= 6
024 - Field 1= 16.0 Field 2 = 0.0 Field 3= 0.0 Field 4= 0.0

Replacement key 1:
022 - Field 1= 0 Field 2 = 0 Field 3= 1 Field 4= 2
023 - Field 1= 0 Field 2 = 0 Field 3= 0 Field 4= 6
024 - Field 1= 19.0 Field 2 = 0.0 Field 3= 0.0 Field 4= 0.0

Replacement key 2:
022 - Field 1= 0 Field 2 = 0 Field 3= 1 Field 4= 2
023 - Field 1= 0 Field 2 = 0 Field 3= 0 Field 4= 6
024 - Field 1= 19.0 Field 2 = 0.0 Field 3= 0.0 Field 4= 0.0

Data for both replacement keys same as programmed at the same time by locksmith.

Based on the above, I would say you need a better locksmith.

If the engine starts with those replacement keys, it appears to me that he's done an Immobilizer Delete on the ECU rather than actually matching those keys.

Thanks for getting back to me so soon.
I'm suddenly getting that sinking feeling of dread when looking at the car.
Is there a way of checking for sure if this is the case and if so is there a way of reversing what he did so the car is back to how it should be?

Given the age of the car, I personally wouldn't worry very much about having an immobilizer defeat.

As for checking defeat status: Take a look at Adaptation Channel 091 in the ECU. The Stored Value should be one of these:

0 = Immobilizer not matched (NEW)
1 = Immobilizer disabled
4 = Immobilizer matched (System OK)

My guess is that you will find a 1 in there.

Hi Uwe,
Just had a look, you were right, the poor excuse for a locksmith had disabled the immobiliser, there was a 1 in the field.
The thing is I now need to know how to reverse it and get the immobiliser working again, if its off it invalidates my insurance and not having valid car insurance in the UK is a criminal offence (Big fine and points on the driving license).
Is it possible to recode it using VCDS to get it working again?

Nope, can't be done with VCDS.

I would demand the locksmith un-do what he did.

-Uwe-

PS: And if he refuses, you guys have a "Trading Standards" office, right? ;)

Hi,
Thanks for the advice, I rang the shop up and the guy who runs the place denied their equipment could do a defeat, he is giving me his employee's number to call and have a chat, said what I described was not serious.
From memory he tried two handheld locksmith devices (one looked like a tablet system).
They are the only people to have accessed the car since the ecu was refitted.
I don't think I'd get anywhere with trading standards, they are only contactable by email these days and dont have the resources anymore to do much.
I have contacted the company which sorted out the ECU with its virgin install to see how much it would cost to get the immobiliser fixed so will have to wait and see.
Many thanks for your help,
Ben
