Hello all! New VCDS user here battling with some electrical gremlins on my Audi.
I have a recurring issue with the car in that most of the time when I start it, the dials and MMI illumination turn off for a few seconds, then come back on as normal but with the time and date on the dash cluster reset to 0:00 and Feb 2003.
This usually coincides with at least one other fault occurring - most commonly a fault for implausible signal from the MAP sensor which puts the car into limp mode, but sometimes one of the following:
- ESP not functioning
- indicators not functioning
- ABS not functioning
All of the above are clearable with VCDS after starting the car (even the MAP sensor) and afterwards the car drives normally, but the next time I start it, I have to repeat the process and clear codes to avoid the car going into limp mode.
The car has a new battery which has been coded in, and was having problems before and after the new battery was fitted/coded - I thought this might solve the problem but it didn't. I've also replaced the battery management module in an effort to cure these issues but it has made no difference. Likewise disconnecting the battery for an hour or more clears some of the codes but the dash cluster fault codes remain and refuse to be cleared.

I'm hoping that the cluster itself is not dead as I understand that these clusters have component protection on them and are therefore challenging to swap with a replacement part from a breaker. If anyone can offer any suggestions as to what might be causing my issues it would be very much appreciated!
