Hello all, hope you can help. First off I'm a DIY guy and not a tech. My 09 Rabbit doesn't get driven much. I bought it new in early 09 and put 50k on it in the first couple of years, since then I stopped traveling and it's only an extra vehicle now. I've had a bunch of issues recently that I've taken car of. First, about 3 months ago, the AC had a huge catastrophic failure. Apparently the charcoal filter in the drier broke and destroyed the entire system. So I let it sit idle while I gathered the funds for all of the needed parts, but by then the battery completely died. I bought new batteries (extra for stereo, but more on that later) and then replaced the entire AC system. Shortly after getting it all back together I had a headlamp go out so I replaced all of the lights up front. The car has always ran great, it still does, the are no running/driving issues, except now the epc has tripped and put the car into safe mode on 2 occasions. When you shut the car off the epc resets and it's fine. Also, I swapped the stock brakes for the R32s a few years ago. About a year after doing that the ABS and anti skid lights came on. I thought it was a dirty wheel speed sensor, because it was intermitten and was not throwing any P- codes (I didn't know about the vcds then). Everything worked, abs, antiskid, etc, but eventually the lights just stayed on so I though one went out.
So then I took the car to a local garage because the dealer won't scan mine because of the aftermarket stereo. (I did the checks advised about stereos here on the FAQs and my K-line is fine.) The local garage found no codes with a Snap-on Solus scanner and we couldn't get the epc to trip. Now, fast forward to this week. I bought and just received the Ross-Tech scanner. The first thing I did is run an auto scan and, from what I see, you'd think I should just drive it straight to the junk yard. Malfunctions everywhere. It looks to me that most are intermitten and a lot may be related to the previous repairs, but I'm not sure. Also, there was also a recall done on the abs wiring harness about a year ago. So that's the story on the car and here's the scan. Should I start by just clearing all of the codes and then do another scan on it?
