Started about a month ago. Starts up fine in the morning and after work. Immediately after shutdown and for an hour or so, car will crank over but won’t fire. I have replaced ignition pack and spark plugs. Also cleaned MAF, PCV and throttle body, nothing helped. Did work normally for one day after I replaced the ignition pack, then started doing it again the next day. I assume a sensor somewhere is heat soaking but I have no idea what. Help!!

Could also be vapor-lock?

Randy,

If you have VCDS please get verified and post an auto-scan or advise if codes exist during the no start?

What is status of RPM G28 and G40 ref during the excessive cranking in VCDS?

Sure does sound like a speed sensor though..........

Do fuel injected cars vapor lock??
They sure can. Normally vapor-lock is prevented by retaining fuel pressure after the engine is shut off. Pressure in the system keeps the fuel from turning into vapor. But if there's a leaking injector, check-valve, or pressure regulating valve, then pressure in the system will not be maintained and vapor bubbles can form due to residual heat from the engine.
