Reverse DPF removal

Hello,
I recently bought VW passat 2.0 tdi and it turns out that the dpf was removed (I've noticed the dpf has distinct weld lines around it). I intend to replace it with new one.
My question is whether I can update the ecu to read the dpf again (the related sensors) using VCDS. And if so, how?

Assuming that the ECU software has been modified, which is a pretty safe assumption since I can't think of any other way to make an ECU happy about a missing DPF any other way, no, you can't do this using VCDS. You'll need to find someone who can flash stock software back into the ECU.
