We had here a Seat Leon from january 2019. We had the question to see if it is possible to make the adaptive cruisecontrol to act as a normal cruisecontrol. The driver is getting frustrated of the automatic adjusting of the speed and braking of the car.

Does anyone have a idea if it possible to change the coding / adaptions so the cruisecontrol does not adjusting the speed and brake anymore?

The start-stop system have we disabled on the same way as a Golf

Here is the Autoscan of the car

Yes, in principle, it should be possible, but I expect it will be quite complicated, involving changes to quite a few modules.

Frankly, I cannot imagine someone preferring a standard, old-school cruise control to an adaptive one. My guess is that the driver has not learned to use the ACC properly, especially the control for the following distance, and the fact that he can easily prevent braking or slowing with a slight touch of the accelerator pedal.

My previous car had "normal" cruise control and frankly I hardly ever used it, my current car has ACC and it use it almost every time I drive the car. ACC is just SOOOOO much more usable than CC I am at a loss to understand why anyone would want to revert from ACC to CC. The automatic control of speed to be able to follow other cars is to me what makes ACC so good.

Maybe worth asking the customer exactly what he thinks the problem is with ACC?

The customer finds that the car brakes too early. He told us that he would prefer to have this switched off, because he can brake the car himself. The setting from the distance is already set to minimum.
We have deactivated the "predictive speed limit regulation" in the adaption, hoping that this might help a little bit

When I start to feel the car brake and I don't want it to, I apply a bit of accelerator pedal. This stops it from braking. The nice thing about this is that it automatically resumes being on cruise control when I release the accelerator. With a conventional cruise, if you manually brake, you must also manually resume the cruise.

Adaptive cruise is definitely something that takes some getting used to. It took me many hundreds of miles of highway driving before I was really comfortable with it, but once you learn its ways, a regular old-school cruise control system seems crude and primitive by comparison.

Brakes or eases off the gas?

I find that when you approach a slower car ACC will ease off the gas causing a small but noticeable deceleration earlier than I expect while quite a long distance away (a lot further than the following distance), so I just either take control of the gas pedal or if appropriate change lane early to overtake.

I find that ACC brakes later than I would when the car in front slows down, but I have always tried to drive smoothly by looking ahead and anticipating what the vehicle in front will do.

Well, the customer has bought the car from us with a standard cruise control. Only this car has an adaptive cruise control. The seller told him that this could be turned off. Today we are going to see if we will succeed ...

Funny customer :)

I will never go back to conventional cruise after getting used to ACC. It is very hard to imagine life without it :)

You need to change the Coding in SMLS and ECU.
The Bits should by Named in VCDS.
Remove The Bit @ Adaptive Cruise, or so ...
Probably you have to Change the Stalk from ACC to CC, too. But i think it must work with the ACC Stalk, too.

I don't think it works. You need to change modules 01, 03, 17 and 5F at least. Also if the car has lane assist camera you would need to tell that the car has no ACC.

But the problem comes here. Both ACC and CC are under different FeC codes. Now the car has ACC activated and CC FeC not activated. Even you disable the bits for ACC, the CC will never work. It will flag an error.

So just tell your customer to face it and enjoy the ACC they got for free (presumably) and tell them to stop worrying.
