    Engine light (2005 Passat V6)

Can anyone steer me in the right direction now please?
I have replaced the purge valve and installed a new gas cap seal, but the light still comes back on after 50 or so miles.
    Thank you
    Gary

I would correct that first since it may have some influence on the mixture and thus the catalyst performance logic, but..

The engineering problems are likely insurmountable. It would be like proposing to land a rocket booster section on a barge floating in the middle of the ocean.

I guess I could find a way to make a smoke machine to prove no leaks. As I said, I did replace the purge valve.
Do you think it might be one of the (apparently) 4 O2 sensors?

On both sides, not so likely after rethinking this right?

How is the pre air filter screen, air filter and MAF or connecting boots to intake?

Please clear all fault codes and re-post a new fresh complete auto-scan after the car idles for 1 minute.

On both sides, not so likely after rethinking this right?

How is the pre air filter screen, air filter and MAF or connecting boots to intake?

Please clear all fault codes and re-post a new fresh complete auto-scan after the car idles for 1 minute.
The pre air filter screen might possibly be a bit dirty. You can certainly see through it.
I will carefully wash it with soap and water.
All the other large intake air connections seem to be good.
I cleared all codes, started it and let it run one minute.
Re scanned and here it is.
Not sure if I mentioned that after I changed purge, it seemed to go 40 miles before cel. After I changed gas cap seal, it seemed to go 50 miles before cel.
    Thanks for the help!

Well that's a good thing so far.

Is the N80 purge valve installed in correct direction?

    Are there any exhaust leaks?

    What are fuel PSI values?

Have you isolated all intake lines, PCV lines to engine and VC & including brake booster for vacuum leaks?

Have you done manual readiness tests to qualify each AECD sub system?

I have found two hard plastic pipes at the rear of the engine under the throttle body.
They come off a barbed TEE with the other ends having a gasketed flange attaching to a metal component.
I am certainly going to replace them, but may ask you alls opinion if this could trigger the cel?
    Thank you!
