Not sure if anyone has the answer to this question, but here goes!

My car is a 2006 Audi A6 4f, I'm going to change the can-gateway and instrument cluster. Both parts I'm fitting are from other cars so they will go into component protection when fitted to my A6, the question is when I connect VAS to remove CP where will it pick up the correct chassis number? Or would it be best to replace one item at a time and then remove CP?

The reason why I ask is that I could fit both items at home and then take the car into the dealers, I know almost everything in the car will be disabled unit CP is removed, as I've replaced a few can-gateways before..

Yup, the Immo/Kessy module is the "master" when it comes to this stuff.

I found another on a forum Volkswagen VIN decoder which gives basic info for mine and I put an old US VIN number in 3VWDB21GXNM004805

VCDS log files show the VIN number if you want to try those?
