If you're using a HEX+CAN and you're trying to change channels that require messages of that length or more, then yes, you'll need to upgrade to a current interface.

HEX-V2 or HEX-NET. Contact Your distributor (Gendan) for upgrade pricing info.

I have none of those yet, I'm planning to obtain HEX-V2 (because of lower price). For my understanding all the things that can be done with car are the same for both. Only HEX-V2 is a classic type USB interface "dongle", but HEX-NET has a built-in WiFi node with a lot of wireless capabilities. Anyone correct me if I'm not right.

newer cars have different protocols and message length's so the interface needs to be improved :)

it is, it's stable fast and easy to use, if you have more money then buy HEX NET which has wifi so no need to plug usb to pc everytime which eases usage but they all do the same job
