2018 Caddy Maxi Life / Security Access Code / 09 Cent Elec

Hi All,

I require the security access code for the 09 Cent Elec module on a 2018 Caddy Maxi Life. This is so I can attempt to carry out Adaptations in this module, with the goal of having the driving/fog lights come on while the main beam is on. My reason for wanting this is due to the shortcoming of the H4 bulb which VW have decided to implement in a 2018 vehicle, in that when the main beam is on, the dipped beam turns off, reducing visibility close to the front of the vehicle. My plan is to follow the steps on the below page:

However to get to this stage, I require the security code. I have tried 31347 and 20103, none of which worked. Please see full auto scan below. VCDS is fully up to date, as is my HEX-V2 interface. I have removed the VIN for obvious reasons but can of course supply this if required.

The guide linked above will not work on you Caddy, as it is a different platform (Caddy: PQ35, Golf 7: PQ37/MQB).

"when the main beam is on, the dipped beam turns off", that might be sensible to stop the headlamp and bulb holder melting.

Ah ok. I was worried about that. My plan was to get access firstly, then see if the steps worked. I did think to myself there is a chance they wont work, as that post is dated back in 2014, however I thought maybe as it was still a Golf it might have worked. Thanks.

Thanks for your reply but this is not what I am trying to achieve. Im afraid I do not see your point with regards to a bulb holder melting.

I think HMC is just trying to point out that running both filaments of a H4 bulb will likely damage the bulb or it's holder. Although I suspect you already know this and it's not directly relevant given it's not what you're trying to do...

As for having the high beam stalk turn on both the fogs and high beams, I don't think it's possible on a PQ35 platform vehicle. At least I've never seen any coding, adaption or EEPROM mod that would achieve it :/

This is a Mk6 based / PQ35 BCM so I agree with the guys above. (Mk7 / MQB BCMs are an entirely different animal and they do require a SA code prior to adaptation.)

You already have Byte 14, Bit 2 Fog Lights inactive with High Beams active unchecked but I'm not aware of any way to enable both high and low beams at the same time. You might want to see if enabling some incorrect combination of Xenon Headlights (with or w/o Shutter perhaps) might change the BCM's behavior but I would NOT tweak Byte 18 unless you know the stock value that's hiding under the 00's in your coding.

Thanks Dana. Yeah. I will maybe just leave well enough alone at this point! As has now been pointed out, even if I could gain access, my planned steps wouldnt have worked anyway. Do you think this is something that could be possible to alter in a future version of VCDS or has VW 'locked' this out permanently?

It's very much down to the BCM software I'm afraid. VCDS can't add functionally, just enable or tweak features that all already there.
