Noise and vibration at 2000rpm

My 2009 A6 3.0 tdi developed a noise/vibration on my way home yesterday.

It seems to be around 2000 rpm. Initially I thought it was an intercooler pipe but it seems more from the exhaust.

Car drives fine with no real loss of power only symptoms are bit noisier on startup and the resonation/rumble under acceleration ?

Would the dpf breaking apart cause these symptoms .

Grateful for any advice ?

Any heat shields near the exhaust vibrating?

They all seem to be secure

I would check around under the bonnet and under the car for something simple before jumping to the conclusion that's it's the (most expensive part of the exhaust) DPF. If all looks secure then try tapping the silencer (muffler) to check for loose baffles.

The problem turned out be that someone had used jubilee clips on the sleeve that connects the cat to the rear pipes. These had corroded and come loose so this was providing the noise and vibration
