Let's imagine a bloke. This bloke is from the UK and let's call him a typical British name, for the sake of his privacy.
Since Will is his actual name, we'll use that.

Will owns a VW Polo and is familiar with VCDS. So far I like Will a lot, but things will take a drastic turn for the worse.
Somehow Will found my email address and linked this mail address to a deep love for the PQ25 platform. So far Will is right.

Let's see what Will wrote:

Full of intermittent codes but the ABS is my main issue. The fine promise of some queens currency makes my heart accelerate instantly so why not.
Reverse engineering ABS codes is something I really love to do anyway, the MK60EC1 and Bosch ESP units are good fun and RHD is one up one the difficulty scale.
Within a few seconds my mind decided to ask for more information. This is easy, ESP8.2.

Do you have any idea why you lost the coding?
Did you replace the instrument cluster?

Will ***

had to replace the ABS module as the pins had corroded off the front of it.
car has had a new ECU, body control module, cluster and keys before but that was a while ago

thanks

Well, it looks like Will is a man that probably has the miracle of email on his phone so expect quick responses.

I see, so the ABS has worked with this ECU/cluster, correct?

Give this coding a try please:

PS, you put an ECU of a 90hp polo in it (CAYB engine code) so you’re running 90bhp right now ;-)

if your coding is rejected, try this coding as well please:

That’s great thanks for that! I’m pretty good with numbers but struggled working out all the binary inversion for the vin haha!

I’ll give it a try tomorrow. Yes I did know about the ECU!

Thanks again

My dear lord, he starts to like me so much he's actually using his full name and I now have his phone number as well!
Given the urgence, I'm wondering why I haven't heard back from Will. Do you also think to guess where this is going?
Nope, the tread continues...

Hi buddy,

Only got round to trying these this morning and neither worked unfortunately! Still giving the errors 22. Appreciate your help so far though. Is there anything I need to do prior to the coding? Am doing the security login first.
I do also have vagtacho. Do I need to make sure the key codes are correct

Thanks again

Yes, please check the advanced ID of both the immobiliser and the engine to see if the VIN matches.

I don't suspect a classic VIN mismatch between ECU and ABS since I'm under the impression that this car actually started.
Futhermore I'm amused they changed the BCM and immo reader coil as well, why would you do that?

Will ***

Ok, does the ABS module have the vin attached to it too? Because that wasn’t changed when the clocks, ecu, bcm and transponder ring etc was changed.
If so can I correct this in vcds or vag tacho?

Thanks

you don’t need to change the VIN in the ABS, just read module 01 and 17

I'm going for the jackpot now since I just did another, almost identical, RHD Polo 6R. That went very well, so these must be the right codes.
I even gave him a free XDS diff and TPMS!

I think it’s a bit of a shame that you’re ignoring me now.

I get it why you'd ask hobbyist people for help. I get it you don't want to pay top dollar for a dealer to do an SVM.
What I don't get is you're mailing me to help you out, I take some effort to do so and then as soon as it's done, you're ingoring me and take away my reward.
I'm 100 % sure the coding I gave him worked out. I'm guessing he simply doesn't want to pay me... such a shame.
This is exactly the reason I'll stop doing these e-mail requests and only post publicly on forums. I'm a bit cross with Will and people like him.

Michel.....Fuck WILL, not about just the money for me, it was about whether it was actually fixed or success was had!

I have never charged for an ABS code but I never do it unless in public domain, and if someone approaches outside Forum I give them a ridiculous price.

As with anything for these type services certified funds in advance and identity as a result and watch how fast the scumbag does not waste anymore time.

The real guy just pays or explains their true reason for help with credentials to backup the story.

Recently I been ignoring requests to long code and let you guys have fun because mostly I'm sick of people asking for defeat device to remove an AECD such as STOP/START & than try to argue with me its legal to do so.

Retrofits maybe fun to tinker but when the liability arises from configuration alterations I get weary.

@ -Uwe- - You might want to redact the full email address of 'Silly Billy' from near the bottom of Michel's post.

William Hook sure sounds like a fitting butt pirate name & for a scumbag though doesn't it?

Just as long as you don't 'Tar with the same brush' everyone from the UK. :)

Scumbags seem to be quite ubiquitous & not just in the UK .

I have to tell you Dr. Z, I have been burned pretty bad by some unscrupulous dealings purported out of the UK, flat out & as a German friend warned me once of one such Brit & that could be a "scoundrel" he was indeed correct!

I base the worse places in the world on where I just can't ship too through the USPS test, If I can't buy insurance in that location, I quickly know what regions to avoid.

^^^ Michel: Little solace I know and I truly empathize with your sad tale of woe - but I've been there as well (a few times). My philosophy these days is to just enjoy the process of remote diagnostic analysis and to have absolutely no expectations of the person at the end of emails (it results in no disappointment)

Anyhow - for what it's worth, I wanted say that I enjoyed your style of story telling. Not shabby at all for someone for whom English is not his first language!!

Thank you Don, I have no intention of publicly shaming Will individually here, this thread is not aimed at him personally.
By writing this thread, I just wanted to vent some frustration I'm experiencing and subtly invite others to share experiences in this matter. like Jack did.
I enjoy writing in this style from time to time, even though it's not as easy in English as it is in Dutch.
The combination of some sarcasm and enjoyment at the same time is not always very easy. It's my own way of sharing things in a, hopefully, amusing but serious tone.

Uwe, I apologise for posting the e-mail address publicly, I have no intention of making any personal accusations towards Will or his shop, just 'these people in general' since it happened to me before.
Posting his e-mail address was a genuine 'oops'.

As it turns out, Will apparently does have a legal VCDS system and is in fact a member here. It would be good for everyone to just make a public thread here. Apologies for suggesting otherwise.
The VCDS version of 18.9.1 is widely used by chinese clones and together with the apparent low morale of Will, it seemed to fit.

Anyway, I can now use this thread to clarify why I'm a bit more reluctant to help out folks people by e-mail :D.

"Hi there and thank you for reaching out to IP25CS (iichel PQ25 coding solutions),

Even though I greatly appreciate your interest in my services, I'm afraid the current business model is not sustainable.
Therefore I am not able to answer your request to help you personally out by e-mail.

I can understand it's a great disappointment after I carefully created an image of myself of a helpful PQ25 enthousiast.
As it turns out, this attitude is sensitive to abuse. TL;DR Don't be like Will: https://forums.ross-tech.com/showthread.php?20646-Why-do-people-do-this

However, if you do require assistance, I would like to suggest to go to the official VCDS forum and make a thread there.
All you need a is genuine VCDS system and a forum registration. We'll be more than happy to help you out there.
Any help from the Ross-Tech team and the helpful members is included in the purchase of a VCDS product.
The forum --> https://forums.ross-tech.com/forum.php
Get verified --> https://forums.ross-tech.com/showthread.php?2601-How-to-get-Verified
Buy from the US --> https://store.ross-tech.com/shop/cat/VCDS
Or from any of the authorized resellers (with local translations) --> http://www.ross-tech.com/distributors.php

Thanks
Michel"

PS
I'm still wondering how Will actually got my e-mail, since I haven't given it to him or anyone else in that matter.
I usually give out my 'spam' email account for these purposes and not my private one. Only a few people I really trust have my private e-mail.

There are plenty of members here that are dirt-balls from time to time too, they post pirate scans while being verified members or ask for things outside the scope of what the forum is for.
That said there are also really dumb people and sometimes unwittingly buy pirated tools than come here and get set straight.
Location or "been verified VCDS member" does not always mean someone is nice or a good person, look at me for example, I'm an asshole with core ass clown value system, it's sometimes warped but my intent is proven by action.

But we you're our assclown.

-Uwe-

It's an honor badge higher than my Eagle scout certificate.

It fittingly hangs in the bathroom at shop & to remind me how I earned it & by my mother dumping me off at summer camp to get rid of me.
When you get dropped off after camp to fend for yourself in a dark house & you must break into & camp in with your dirty laundry duffel for two more weeks, you quickly realize how valuable electric power is. You learn real fast not to rely on anyone & use your own skills to force you to overcome.

Sometimes I may have the mindset of not being sympathetic & due to some real hard life situations endured but I do contain compassion even for the dumb ass playing FOD but as of now, I don't, especially when clocking a car appears almost confirmed?

This bloke is from the UK and let's call him a typical British name, for the sake of his privacy.
Since Will is his actual name, we'll use that.
lol :D

Someone (will not call names...) could get interface serial number out of VCID maybe? And forum username afterwards if he's registered here. :D
I wouldn't hide [redacted] vin code (or try better :D) or licence plate number if Will is such a &@$@#.

Oh, update update update, Will was back.

Hi Michael,
Apologies for the lack of reply. Been on holiday and don’t have email access as work phone stays at home. I’ll give these a try tomorrow and report back. Once we get it working what would you like as a reward for your services?

Thanks and apologies again
