New to forum a3 8p electrical problems

New to forum but had Vcds for a while on my of my vw. I have a 2003 a3 8p 2.0 tdi keeps going through steering racks. I brought it and had 3 recon fitted I had it 3 weeks and lost power steering. Read codes on a snapon solus as laptop is at home and I get 00537 steering torque sensor (g269) Ross tech wiki says check terminal 15. Is that going to be on the loom or rack wiring. Any help in right direction. I also cannot sync any key fobs with car even with vcds. Tried all the ways on the site but no joy. On scan on snap on not vcds as at home I get these faults. 00059 terminal 30 interior light electrical problem
01049 supply voltage terminal 50 short with power
00906 horn h1 open circuit/short with ground
00834 signal for activation heater rear window open circuit/short
00926 terminal 30 not a plausable signal intermittent

the headlight intermittent is as i have led headlights. i have managed to get the new key to program in vcds now so old must be either faulty or wrong type as it only had one key when i got it. the key that came with it wouldnt program. can anyone here provide skc before i fork out for a reader

The key thing confuses me... It's Immo 4C - the SKC is of no use to you. You shouldn't be able to match a new key with VCDS (Right? Or is my brain broken / I am too tired?)

If the power and wiring to the rack is OK, and the ignition switch isn't causing terminal 15 issues, and all the earths and connections are clean, fuses checked for cracks etc...

The fastest way to root a torque sensor is to bash stuff and smack tie rods etc with hammers instead of using the proper tools. Usually it shows up right after the heavy hand though. Was work front suspension work done around the time these errors occurred, and was it the same error code each time?

It seems a lot of Garages still find it acceptable - even on aluminium suspension components, where it is a massive NO-NO too!

The torque sensor is basically the slight "springyness" you can feel in the steering; with the steering unlocked, but engine off. Smacking stuff distorts it and screws it's readings up. It's basically the same theory as a weight/scales load cell, where it distorts under normal load and provides a different reading based on the load. Smacking stuff bends it forever :cry:

Damnnnnn that was my assumption get skc and program key with vcds. Any idea what I can use to do myself. The rack is random won’t do it for ages then randomly goes. Reset it and works fine again for month or so. When it happened I just pulled off drive and red steering light

"AUX7Z0C6FNT0DV" as the serial number in the Immobilizer does imply that, but I'm surprised to see that in such an early car.

It couldn't hurt to post the Advanced ID data from the Immo and cluster though.

I'm pretty sure ALL 8P A3's were 4C - If not, they certainly started in the 2004 model year, for Europe at least. My original A3 3.2 donor for the R32ran was also 2004 with 4C.

So many reason to keep driving old cars

Yeah, I checked scans from some MY 2006 8Ps (the earliest ones on the US). My son still drives my old one, and I think Peter's wife has one as well. They all have AUX serial numbers in the Immo.
