2003 Vw 1600i Mexican Beetle Ultima aka "VOCHO" will not start.
To All !
Started my bug this morning, idled normally, even revved it and after 10 to 15 seconds it died.
It would not start after that.
Here is a list of resent maintenance.....
new fuel pump and the 4 new fuel lines to the pump.
drained tank and fresh gas with a fuel prep called "Lucas".
fuel filter.
Idle Air Control Valve cleaned.
new ignition coil module.
air filter.
Last but not least, VCDS has no error code for me.
Any Ideas ??
Thank you all for your help.
Ricky

Tooooooo much work !
Takes forever, like an hour later it's still scanning and i have no idea how to paste it to this forum.
Remember i am getting "COM3" with no "Fault Codes" and Group 001, 002, 003.....data.
Bug started, idled (for 10 sec) and died. Had been running fine for months with a new fuel pump.
Only cranks now, no combustion or attempt to fire of any kind.
I did spray some starter spray in the throttle throat this morning.
It started and idled for a few seconds then died.
So, give me your best opinion and i will do what you suggest.
I am using a serial (rs232) 9pin cable and VCDS 11.1 shareware from RossTech to my MS XP operating system dell laptop.
Thank you for your time HMC.
Very kind.

Make a custom Auto-Scan entry:
https://forums.ross-tech.com/showthread.php?352
10,VW Mexi Beetle,01
Then if you select that entry, Auto-Scan will just look for the one and only module (the ECU) that this car has. Should take one minute or less.

The engineering problems are likely insurmountable. It would be like proposing to land a rocket booster section on a barge floating in the middle of the ocean.

I wonder where this may be heading?

Thank you, i will do my best.
My VCDS-lite s/w is from 2012, on an MS XP dell laptop.
I've seen the down selects on my s/w, the mexi is not there.

Just a reminder to all.
I do appreciate all your ideas.
Remember as stated in the Forum Heading.....
"Forum: General VW/Audi Repair
For questions about repairs where VCDS isn't involved at all."
I will take advise, my opinion is that "VCDS 1.1" shareware from the dinosaur era is not alot of help or i'm just an idiot and can not navigate it property.
So what are your experiences and solutions with my issue ??
That way, even if i do not use VCDS s/w searching for a solution, i can use your experiences and decide for myself.
Thank you All !

I'm not aware of a single other person on this forum who drives a Mexi-Bug. Hence experiences and solutions may be hard to come by here.

PS: How is this car even legal in the US? It certainly did not meet the US emissions or safety certifications for 2003, and it does not qualify for the 25+ year old exemption.

Sorry Uwe,
I wrote you such a long response that the system timed out.
So here is the short version.
Buy a legal donor car, strip it down and replace it with all new parts.
ANY OTHER QUESTIONS !!

No, but I have some advice for you: Please refrain from opening duplicate threads with the same question about the same car in different, inappropriate forum sections. The Forum Support & Feedback section is for questions related to the functionality of the forum itself, not your car.
