Hi

Hopefully someone may have seen this before but I'm a little perplexed by this one as it doesnt make sense

Picked up a 2006 caddy last week as a fixer upper, starts and runs OK when I got it the guy said there was a wiring fault with the cluster and it didnt work, went through the wiring and it was just a blown 5a fuse. Put in a new fuse cluster comes on and everything works fine - BUT the immo light is flashing and a message immobiliser adjustment failure in the display.

VCDS says there is no key signal 01176 so that being the case the van should not run but it does, its had a new key at some point and I only have 1 key so cant test with another.

Logic says put a new key reader on the ignition barrel but I'm then woriied the immo will kick in

Does anyone have any thoughts or has seen this before? any wisdom apopreciataed

Scan attached

Thanks in advance

Ian

Ill get a couple of new immo chips and take it to someone who has Geko then and get them to reload everything properly, I dont suppose you can disable the immo in the can gateway to stop the light - the flashing annoys the hell out of me and I want the immo working in any case

Get the system fixed.

You need someone with knowledge to re-enable immobiliser in ecu and match it cluster + add keys.

What does ECU say in 0x01-10-091 VCDS value from r immobilizer status?

We need to determine if flash or eeprom related in ECU because GeKo won't do anything if it is being ignored.

You could however stick a key around the D2 key coil with transponder to see if observed in VCDS blocks.

Don't need a scan to tell. Can be deduced from the fact that it ran with a dead cluster and the fact that it runs with the Immo light on.
Exactly ;)

Just marry a key and MIL for key or message should vacate, who cares right it's running a defeated immo and when the light comes on again later and the car runs anyway, you can point your middle finger like I do to my TDI saying I got you bitch, the engine is still running & I'm not stuck today?

They key has a transponder in it but there’s no way I can tell if it’s been previously used, the issue I have now is that I can’t pull the SKC because I don’t have a “working” key which is required to get the SKC.

VW dealer said they don’t really want to touch it which is fair enough so I may have to either get a second hand set of ECU key and clocks or try and map out the DTC to stop the light and that’s assuming I can pull the map from the ECU 👿

Not true.

Send me the cluster and we can default it to like new or virgin state & so you can marry or we can pre marry a transponder set or we can defeat immobilizer in cluster and just shut it off.
Just pay for transponders, freight and donation you feel is fair plus provide credentials.

Not like you can't use until so ....

I'd love to send it to you Jack but I tink the cost would be prohibitive even though I work in the airfreight business part time here in the UK!

I'm confident there are people in the UK who can do that.

Sorry about your location OP, I tried.

Since you are in the freight business how is it the Chinese can ship their stuff here and represent it as here but get it here for pennies in 1-2 days and or free freight than ship to forwarding agent for free too?

So in answer to that question here in Europe its a bit of a scam, what happens is stuff is shipped from China as a bulk consignment full of thousands of orders usually shipments are 7-8000 kgs each !
They do one customs entry to transfer the freight into the domestic mail, each piece which may be only the size of a letter has been prepaid with the local postage and electronically declared at a low value usually less than £15 and it therefore doesnt require a customs entry and is duty free.
Using this method you get delivery from china in around 10 days at little more than the cost of the domestic postage and it doesnt even attract any customs formalities because the Chinese undervalue stuff to avoid the customs formalities which drive the cost right up.

To send the cluster to you and for you to send it back to me would probably end up costing about £100 becuase its a one piece shipment so you get hit with charges both ways, I could get it to you relatively cheaply but unless you have a special arrangement with somone in the US it can be expensive to send it back.

Up until recently we ran one of the Global Shipping Lanes from ebay into Australia and that works in a similar way.

There are ways around it but you really you need to send multiple orders from one country to another in order to keep the costs down and if you need any logistical help here in the UK just PM me :)

So as everyone suspected the car has had an immo bypass done on the ECU, the key is not matched to the cluster and try as I might with 3 different tools I can’t seem to retrieve the SKC I think is because I need a working key.

The dealer will only code for me if a pay them a ridiculous amount of money for a new key and won’t code up new transponders plus they don’t know if the ECU can be returned to its stock state.

If I buy a couple of new transponders and a second hand ECU that hasn’t been messed with does anyone know if it can be coded if connected to the factory as I really don’t want something that has no immobiliser

My only other option seems to be a second hand matching cluster ECU and key but then I’m not entirely sure how to write the vin into the new ECU and cluster

If I could just get the SKC I could sort it in about 30 minutes but I can’t seem to read the eeprom either

Any ideas anyone?

Thanks in advance

Buy a used ECU set and send me the equipment with credentials or send me the existing stuff and buy some new transponders.

Offer still stands............
