So any body can figure this part out?

    *via VAG CAN Professional
    Control Module 46
    Access Permissions and Programming Matrix
Search for Horn Acknowledgment and set to "active"
    Exit

In that link the poster does say that they have only worked on one MLB A4 (and I couldn't see a date when that was posted), given that VAG/Audi have been changing a lot lately it's quite possible that the instructions are not applicable to your new A5.

I didn't spend a lot of time searching but I found this NAR 2019 A4 scan in our emails:

    Code:
Address 46: Central Conv. (J393) Labels:* None
       Part No SW: 8W0 907 064 GC HW: 8W0 907 064 DC
       Component: BCM2 MLBevo 025 0424

       ASAM Dataset: EV_BCM2HellaAU736 016016
       ROD: EV_BCM2HellaAU736_016_AU49.rod

Sensor For Anti Theft Alarm System:
       Subsystem 1 - Part No SW: 5Q0 951 177 HW: 5Q0 951 172
       Component: Sensor, DWA 005 0316
       Serial number: removed

       Alarm horn:
       Subsystem 2 - Part No SW: 5Q0 951 605 A HW: 5Q0 951 605 A
       Component: Sirene, DWA 005 0314
       Serial number: removed

       Sensor Controlled Power Rear Lid:
       Subsystem 3 - Part No SW: 3AA 962 243 H HW: 3AA 962 243 H
       Component: GEB.F.Heckoef H16 0905
       Serial number: removed
    "beep" Adp results:
    Code:
    ENG146368-ENG146488-central_locking_system-beep_at_opening	OFF 2
    ENG146399-ENG146543-remote_functions-idle_time_bap_remote_beep	500	8
    ENG146399-ENG146541-remote_functions-remote_beep_activation_time_high	100	8
    ENG146399-ENG146542-remote_functions-remote_beep_activation_time_low	900	8
    ENG146371-ENG146510-sounder_settings-beeptime	10_ms 2
    ENG146371-ENG146511-sounder_settings-beeptime_closing_central_locking	single_beep 2
    ENG146371-ENG146513-sounder_settings-beeptime_opening_central_locking	no_beep 2
    ENG146371-ENG247388-sounder_settings-beeptime_reunlock	60_ms 2
I can't share the scan directly but .. I wonder if the lack-of that Alarm horn / Subsystem 2 is the problem?

marble, I would keep an eye out for B9 A5 scans and see if any with factory beep also have a LIN alarm horn slave module in their scans.

Thanks Dana, i think you might be onto something. I wonder how to retrofit that part. whatever i googled looks like it's buried deep in the engine bay.
