I swapped out the auto trans for a manual in my 2000 Jetta. All is good, car runs great; however, it has CEL related to auto trans codes.

First off, you need to physically unplug and remove the old transmission computer. Then you can also code the CAN gateway to no longer look for the transmission computer. Current coding being 00007 in address 19 CAN Gateway. Change it to 00006.

Then try to recode the engine computer and see what happens.

I agree with removing the TCU. In addition, the ECU might need a login in order to accept a coding change. Try 01283.

Removing the TCU and recoding did it; no more CEL.

Thanks!

After driving the car a spell, I get MAF and O2 sensor faults that I did not get before removing the TCM and recoding.

Check connection(s) to front oxygen sensor?

Look at the MAF readings in MVB 003.2?

There's a VW part number on that connector. Give that number Google search and you should be able to locate the empty housing/connector easily. (You are looking for something like: 1J0 973 775 A)

If the gold plated terminals or weather tight seals on the wires are damaged VW sells those separately as well.

Order, received and installed the new connector and no more CEL.
