Hi,

LT3 VW Crafter R5 2008 V5 2.5

The DPF warning light has come on, I have driven up the motorway for 20 minutes straight away, but the light has not gone out, a few shotr journeys later and the coil light is on, and I suspect the vehicle is in limp mode - what happened to the regenerations ?? as far as I am aware it has not done any regerations since owning (3 months) with mostly short journeys.

Should I force regen, or get it taken off and cleaned ... I am willing to follow this: http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Diesel_Particle_Filter_Emergency_Regeneration

But do not know the DPF spec, VCDS is measuring:
26.0 % Particle Filter Load Coefficient
57.0 Particle Filter Carbon Mass
0.0 % Carbon Mass Learned Value


I am worried I might burn the van down, could anyone help with what the above number tell me, and is it say to force regen.

OK, have followed the instructions under:

After 'do-it' I saw no indication on the dash that regen was taking place (I thought some warning light would be flashing). I just received a message in VCDS stating that the code had been accepted (which was in fact 20016, not 21295 for "Enable Regeneration".

I immediatley drove up the motorway again, temps got up to 500-700, within a few minutes the "Particle Filter Load Coefficient" dropped steadily to zero (from 26%) over about 10 miles, with revs at 2500rpm, the DPF warning light went off a few minutes later.

Should I presume: "Enable Regeneration" 20016 did what it says it would do, could a regen simply not have started on its own with the motorway drive - confused why it didn't sort itself out on the first motorway drive since seeing the warning light.

Should I still expect to have the DPF removed and cleaned, or will this have burnt off soot in the DPF properly, my journeys are mostly short urban, and have omitted to do the weekly zip up the motorway.
