Coding not possible, right?

Won't the car require an ECU or Flashed to stock, removal of TCU, a cluster for stick too & all is possible by law since under same COC, except the TDI transmission to maintain the conformity?

Want help with making it comport if so see this part # 06A-906-032CL, okay?

As a general rule, 1.8T ECUs of that vintage used different part numbers (different software) for MT vs. AT applications and cannot be re-coded for a different transmission type.

In addition the TDI transmission will have gear ratios that the "correct" MT ECU will think are wrong. This means cruise control probably won't work.

As a rule of thumb, most ECMs that have DBW throttle bodies are specific part numbers (firmware) for manual or automatic transmissions. As such, I don't see a dealer level scan tool like VCDS being able to have this ECM think manual transmission.

I did some digging as well and I come up with sort of the same thing as Jack, 06A 906 032 CL which get superseded into part number 06A 997 032 MX.

maybe i need to rephrase the tech request

I appreciate the "answer" your offer in the form of an ebay link, problem is, you want significantly more for your wizardly magic than I paid for the entire car! It is almost 20 years old guys, come on? I did a lot of research leading me to buy VCDS, and every one i asked about, assured me that it was CAPABLE OF RECODE. So lets pretend im not some poor sap who got taken in and say that my friend joe across the street has a ecu that CAN b recoded, where is the proper procedure to recode ? Or is there someone who knows and willing to help by telling me how to use your product? geeze! Its not that hard is it! Just asking for a procedure, not for any one to fix it for me........I am doing this to LEARN! so give me a break.

I did a lot of research leading me to buy VCDS, and every one i asked about, assured me that it was CAPABLE OF RECODE.
Right let's get back to basics:
1) VCDS is capable of recoding within the limits of the VW written firmware
2) VCDS cannot change the VW written firmware

So if the VW written firmware will not accept the coding change needed - such as recoding an engine ECU from automatic to manual transmission - then that's NOT because of a restriction of VCDS, but a limit of the VW written firmware.

So the replies above are not trying to make "some poor sap" spend money unnecessarily but telling you the limits that exist due to the way VW have written the firmware in their modules.

Sorry if that's not what you want to hear, but sometimes life isn't fun

Talk to me, what do you call a fair deal, maybe I can grant it?

I'm curious OP can you please tell me since car is 2001 if your car is with 4 wire forward OXS oxygen sensor or 5 wire 6 pin plug wide band?

Brain Storm! ......I love race drivers!

Hi guys, sorry it took me so long to respond.I was a national trackside safety official in the S.C.C.A. for 25 years and a competitor in S.A.R.R.C. Series for a number of those years. Anyways, I happened to remember an old friend and fellow competitor that I ran some hillclimbs with who I called up and explained my dilemmas to. He is the manager and head tech. for the local VW Audi dealership, and being a racer was more than willing to help. I gave him the part numbers off all the control modules in the car. I had removed the TCM, which he instructed me to reinstall and talked me through some vag.com procedures over the phone . Welllll doggies ! The car is drivable now .No more check engine ,no more EPC light, just some turbo boost issues that he is having me come up after hours one day next week to his shop so he can make a final change with the factory service equipment and replace the Wastegate act. valve........then hopefully ill b a jetta daily driver. Also my apologies, vag.com is awesome! Money well spent! I will recommend it without hesitation in the future, and thanks for your help

Oil PSI is not conditional of starting but communication and mechanicals in time are, so did you do a compression test yet?

Better sort the communication right and did you check fuses yet?

I checked all the fuses, but i didn't do a compression check yet. The car hasen't been smoking or showing any other signs of burning oil.
