I have a 2018 Beetle Dune with the Composition Media radio and Fender system. I want to upgrade to the Discovery Media radio with navigation. Other than the GPS antenna will this be plug and play?

Thanks,

Roger

unfortunately not. component protection has to be matched with the car. Probably has to be done by someone with ODIS.

Well, with ODIS online CP matching, there's the question of how much of the Discover Media PQ's FeC features would survive the matching. FeC's such as navigation, BT, voice control etc, which the basic vehicle didn't have from factory. There's the alternative of having the DM unit chipped and installing a CAN filter to filter out CP signals. There are providers for this but I don't know of any US ones.

Buy radio and contact me , I can unlock it
then radio is P&P .... no need any filters and adapters
and you can buy any you want
Enable CarPlay in Dealer will cost you almost radio price in Ebay ;)

So if I buy a radio (which I haven't found yet) you say you can unlock it and make it all work with the exception of CarPlay? Dealer has to do that?

Then I think this is not worth the hassle. I have Discover Media and its navigation gets used only very seldom - because its inherently out of date, which online services like Waze aren’t.

Probably, but I like to see the map screen when I'm driving and I don't want to waste my data.
