ABS Hydraulic Unit Replacement - Original Code not working

My apologies for posting this twice but it seemed like this was the better place to post this. I can't see how to move the original thread or remove it.

My ABS Module was acting up so I took in to the dealership because my VIN fell under the recall. Unfortunately VW refused to replace the module because they were unable to do their software update. They wanted to charge me $2600 to replace the module and do the work.

So I bought a replacement module from a junkyard based off the revised part number VW quoted me.

Before installing the junkyard module I pulled the code off my original module which was: 113B400D492300FF880F02E5921E00413000

After I installed the junkyard module I input this code but it was rejected in VCDS. I'm hoping someone out there can help me with coding this module. It's worth mentioning that the original part# was 1K0 907 379 AD but the new part number is 1K0 907 379 AN. According to VW this is the correct revised part number as the AD was phased out.

Why would they not change this safety item for free under the recall & did you contact NHTSA & VW corporate advocates to complain?

I'm not sure why the replacement module isn't taking the original coding. Coding lengths appear to be the same, so I would think it should.

I have not contacted anyone to complain aside from my complaint at the dealership. They stated that the ABS module was not communicating and that they could not update the software and begin the recall until the module was replaced. They also tried to say that the hydraulic pump was bad. I couldn't find any codes for a bad pump personally. I decided to cut my losses and just replace the whole ABS unit, module and pump myself.

I have no idea why its not accepting the original code. Any thoughts on what I can do from here?

Oh, I'm not sure how relevant it may be but when it rejected the code it stated something about how it could not accept a subvalue or something like that.

SUMMARY:
Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain model year 2009-2010 Volkswagen Jetta A5 Sedan, 2009 Volkswagen Jetta SportWagen, Eos, GTI, Rabbit and Audi A3 vehicles, and 2010 Volkswagen Golf A6 vehicles. The Antilock Brake System (ABS) control unit may fail during ABS or Electronic Stability Control (ESC) activation, possibly causing a loss of vehicle control.
CONSEQUENCE:
A loss of vehicle control can increase the risk of a crash.
REMEDY:
Volkswagen will notify owners, and dealers will update the ABS control module software to improve the module's self-testing abilities. Any module that fails the new diagnostic test will be replaced. These repairs will be made free of charge. The recall began February 2017. Owners may contact Volkswagen customer service at 1-800-893-5298.

I'm not sure what the deal is but I went back to see exactly what the error message was when it would kick back the code and now the code is being accepted. I'm going to run the adaptions now.

Don't you think you should be completely compensated & based on what you were quoted at dealer in a certified letter to VWGoA along with a complaint form to NHTSA copied on the documents?
I mean seriously, don't you think you could demand that and that the repair still be done too & to the replaced module, no?

I definitely feel like the whole "cannot perform software update therefore we won't replace unit" is just a way for them to get out of replacing alot of these units. From what I understand an improper soldering compound was used in these modules which leads to a bad ground in the module. All the software update is supposed to do is detect this issue earlier than it otherwise would have. If I'm understanding things correclty there is a specific error code that they can get from the module that points to this being the problem. Either way it seems like these modules were poorly made. I just took the path of least resistance and decided to take care of this on my own and spare myself the hassle of trying to squeeze some blood out the rock that is VWofA.

I just finished all the adaptions. New module coded and lights on the dash are all gone, so at the end of the day I'm content. All that's left is to finish bleeding the rear brake lines and possibly bleeding the pump and clutch.
