The alarm on my 2003 Jetta wagon goes off randomly. I did some research on possible causes and did a scan, which showed an intermittent connection to the left front door lock module. I replaced that, but I'm still getting multiple intermittent errors for things in the left front door, so I'm guessing there are issues with the cable. I checked the connection between door and body and couldn't find any damaged wires. Would replacing the door wiring harness be the next logical step based on the following scan?

Code:

Have you checked what the actual source of your alarms is in MVB 016 of the CCM?

; 1 = Door Contact Switch Driver Door
; 2 = Door Contact Switch Passenger Door
; 4 = Door Contact Switch Rear Left Door
; 8 = Door Contact Switch Rear Right Door
; 16 = Door Contact Switch Rear Lid/Tailgate
; 17 = Immobilizer
; 18 = Anti Theft System Power Supply
; 32 = Engine Hood Contact Switch
; 64 = Ignition (Terminal 15)
; 128 = Interior Monitoring
; 255 = No Alarm Source recognized

Intermittent alarms is a common sign of a poor battery on that era of car. Have you had the battery tested?

I would say likewise on the battery or checking charging system and in addition to block checks as Uwe aforementioned, silly me for asking this, but have you checked jam boot chafe harness points and starting with the drivers door since that is where the DTC is?
