Is it possible to use the Two rear mounted radars as Rear Traffic Alert with the 8Ch PDC?

The car is not equipped with Blind Spot monitoring, but it still came with the rear radar from factory :confused:

Would it be possible to use the Blind spot without LEDs in the mirror? Just sending vibrations through the steering wheel if the cars moves towards the hidden car?

No, no and no to your questions.

First, the detection area of the pdc sensors is too short and narrow for this kind of detection.

Then installing BSD system without mirror indicators. No as the system makes a check when starting and it will disable the system if not all components are ok. The system does not use PDC sensors, it has own radar units behind the rear bumper. So if you don’t have BSD system from factory, you don’t have the radars in the car.
And anyway, installing the wiring to the mirrors is probably the easiest part.

I’ve installed BSD to my wife’s Seat Leon, and a Side assist to my own Tiguan. Takes about two days to install and is really not that bad.

The car has the 8Ch PDC computing-unit and the rear radars for RTA and BSD.

Do you have RCTA on? I don’t see 3C in your autoscan so I don’t think those are BSD radars. The BSD radars are mounted behind rear bumper, not inside the car.

No I don't have the RCTA. From what I can see those are mounted directly to the back bumper thru the plastic Tunnel. I can look later today if I can see any part-numbers.

Do you have easy open trunk? Maybe those are the sensors for that? Really hard to make out from the picture where it is taken from.

Nope, no easy open.

They are mounted in the car as described in the manual on page 225

edit: It looks like they are for the ventilation?

Look, I know what they are, what they look like and how they are mounted.

They’re NOT mounted to the bumper. They’re mounted to car chassis behind the rear bumper.

If your car has blind spot radars mounted and wired from factory without actually having that functionality, it would be the first.
Try to get part numbers.
But again, your autoscan isn’t showing 3C lane assist module, so they’re not wired to the system.
