2003 A6 Quattro Central locking unit flooded.

Leak in sun roof seal flooding driver footwell.

Runs. Windows will not work. Sun rood will not open. Flashers/Tuens not working NO sound from radio etc. etc

Pulled control unit. +12 v lead to connector burned off. Inside controller, strap connecting +12 v to PCB burned off.

    20 amp fuse not blown.

Changed unit (used on eBay). Hooked it up.

Flashers and turns now working. No sound from radio (on). Interior courtesy lights not workling

Catch 22. Can't open sun roof to stop leaks.

Are all thise things related to some coding with Central Locking Unit?

    Have VCDS

Don't see anything under select control module that relates to Central Locking Unit

Need a little insight about where to go with this?

    2003 A6 should still be 35-Central Locks -- I think -- as opposed to 46-Cent. Conv.

The engineering problems are likely insurmountable. It would be like proposing to land a rocket booster section on a barge floating in the middle of the ocean.

    Hi:

Thanks for response. Let me first say that I have never used the VCDS as I bought it just for an "in case" which has not occurred until now. So here I am.

I have looked at the following but don't know where to start. Like I said my existing key start and run vehicle both with damaged controller and with the new one.

Am I required to code my existing keys to this "new" controller (as if coding to a new key?) to get all the functions back or is this indicative of a bigger problem?

Seems strange that the turn signals/flasher would return to correct function but not other items.

    Audi A6 (4B) Central Locking

    Contents

    1 Coding
    2 Adaptation
2.1 Channel 021: Remote Control Matching
    2.2 Special Notes

    Coding

VCDS will display a coding chart a pop-up balloon while connected to the vehicle.
Add the sum of the options to configure the correct coding.

    Adaptation
    Channel 021: Remote Control Matching

    [Select]
    [35 - Centr. Locks]
    [Adaptation - 10]
    Channel 021.
    [Read]

Choose the memory position you want the new key be matched on by entering it's number (e.g. "3" for memory position 3). Make sure to TYPE IN the number instead of scrolling up to it, otherwise you will not be able to click [Test].

    [Test]

Now press any button on the remote you want to match.
The meas. block field above will change from Not Recogn. to Recognized.

    [Save]

    [Done, Go Back]
[Close Controller, Go Back - 06]

Note: You can check the current memory positions using Meas. Block 007.
    Special Notes

The 4B platform comfort system module has assigned positions, like parking spots 1, 2, 3 and 4, for each remote. This is critical when matching new remotes.

If you are having problems with the Remote Control Matching, please pay special attention to the instructions above:
Make sure to TYPE IN the number instead of scrolling up to it, otherwise you will not be able to click [Test].

If Adaptation Channel 21 is not available the control module does NOT support matching remotes with VCDS (or any scan tool). In those cases the remote matching procedure as per the Repair Manual and/or vehicle Owner's Manual will need to be completed.
In those cases, Measuring Block group 007 can still be used to verify the positions.

OK, step 1 with VCDS is to run and post an Auto-Scan.

We do not allow attachments here. Please see the link I posted above for instructions how to post a scan.

OK, this car is so full of fault codes that there's a very low signal-to-noise ratio in what you've posted.

Please clear all fault codes from modules that have fault codes, then do a new scan, and please post the native scan text, not something that's been run through the [Print] function in VCDS. That function is optimized for a sheet-fed printer, but makes things much harder to read here than the original text would be.

The engineering problems are likely insurmountable. It would be like proposing to land a rocket booster section on a barge floating in the middle of the ocean.

Save instead of print? Going to Holland MI so won't be back until Sunday. Not aure I understand stored faults.
Would the used controller have faults from the previous installed car?

Is the format just the txt in the log dir which I assume the "save" button refers to?

    Maybe I will rerun tonight.

Things like no radio antenna threw me back. Radio turns on but no sound. Wirring diagrams indicate no connection of antenna with replaced controller.

Are any of my problems related to key matching to the "new" controller?

Correct. [Save] or even just [Copy]

Yes, that's entirely possible. Fault codes are stored in non-volatile memory.

Like I said, please clear all the fault codes out of this car and then let's see what comes back.
