Yes I have drive mode select. According to various websites it does not need FeC. Coding part is to be seen. There are few modules where you need to code the DCC but like you wrote there’s no adaptation in 5F for DCC separately.

my question was incorrect because on MQB you can't have DCC without the Drive Mode Selection. I should have said I hope the FeC for Driving Mode only is not different from the FeC for Driving Mode + DCC.

you need to code DCC by enabling a bit into modules 03, 17 and 19.

I did, but my Driving Mode display never changed... but my shocks were still
disconnected when I left home so I hope that's the reason.

Aalraity then, installation completed. But stupid me, attached the unit to the wrong CAN bus. This was the only thing I did NOT check and double check. I trusted the coloring on the Chinese wiring harness. Should've known better from past experiences with those :)

Anyway, everything seems to communicate with the DCC module, only missing messages caused by the incorrect CAN bus connection.

BUT, and this is the BUT where I cursed a lot. The DCC module seems to have incorrect dataset.... :( SHITTT!! Not a show stopper, I can get this one fixed but still, causes extra effort.

When CAN bus connection corrected tomorrow, only errors left in DCC module should be missing basic setting and implausible data set.

It was fun to do the installation, outside was -16 degrees celsius, but luckily the garage was around 0 degrees celsius.

Total installation time so far around 25 hours. So this retrofit is definitely not for the faint at heart :)

Edit : Small clarification to installation time. I did also quite extensive sound insulation at the same time so that increased the time few hours.

well the chinese harness can lie but I am sure the WDs you have from erwin don't :P DCC goes to the powertrain bus if I am not mistaken.

so, did the menu just magically appear?

Yes, Drive CAN is where it’s supposed to go. I knew that but I didn’t double check the wire colors :)

And no menu yet, let’s see after the unit is parameterized and calibrated.

Hmm.... Now this is getting interesting. I swapped the CAN wires to DRIVE CAN and I even did it directly to gateway instead of using the A pillar connection point. However, now the suspension control module does not communicate with the gateway?????
How is this even possible???
Unit communicated just fine when it was in the wrong CAN but now in right one no? Anyone experienced this?

I've checked that continuous power from fuse box and ignition from dashboard wiring harness is working fine.

Is there some sort of CAN addressing memory in the gateway for the modules? So that now when I swapped the CAN it still tries to reach the DCC module through the wrong CAN where it was before?

CAN addressing memory? not that I know of, but maybe try leaving the car battery disconnected for a while...

sure you didn't swap L to H and viceversa? or that the twisted pair got somehow interrupted somewhere?

I did not touch the "original" wiring. I first connected the wires to A pillar connection point, I then extended the wiring and went to gateway connection point. In both cases the result was the same, no communication.

And it should communicate even the HI and LO would get mixed. It would then just revert to single wire mode and there would an error about it.

I still think it must be some sort of gateway addressing issue. I checked all the power wirings and the unit is getting power. And when the unit was connected to infotainment unit, it communicated fine.

Yihaa, now it communicates. Hard reset was needed, meaning battery disconnection. So there must be some kind of address register on the gateway and it did not update that when the CAN bus changed from infotainment to running gear CAN.

Now the autoscan looks much much more nicer, and now I managed to run basic settings for the AFS lights as the rear sensor info is now coming through CAN instead of direct sensor connection. This is what you need to recode as well.

So what needs recoding :

03 - ABS, enable byte 27 bit 7, DCC
17 - Instruments, enable byte 4 bit 4, adaptive chassis control (DCC) installed
19 - Gateway, add 14 Susp. electronics to installation list
55 - Headlight range control unit, disable byte 1 bit 3, this makes the leveling sensor info to come through CAN and not via direct sensor connection

And no DCC in drive mode menu yet. Let's wait until the unit is parameterized and calibrated.

Overall ride experience with these shocks is much much much improved over the default R-Line shocks, even they are not adjustable now. Maybe for sportier vehicles R-Line shocks are fine but for SUV, too stiff.

glad you are making progress. if you use experimental coding you will find a bit in the gateway that has DCC in the description, it's in german so no clue on what it does. I enabled it and the gateway did not complain, and we happen to have the very same gateway.

Ok, flashed the unit with Golf Clubsport dataset just to finish the project. Ran the basic setting for the system and now everything is working as should.

BUT, I don't have DCC option in the drive select..... So bad news for darkchina.

So some more investigation is needed. I'm 100% sure it's a coding issue, not FeC issue. The damping changes when I change between normal and sport mode, that is very clearly felt, but there's no comfort option and there's no DCC option in individual.

Hmmm... I think I need to check one thing, maybe this is a dataset issue to gateway and not coding one...

Anyway's here's the current autoscan. Nice and almost error free :) The fuel tank flap is due to freezing temps here.

EDIT :

Got confirmation from a reliable source that DCC is not a separate FeC along with drive modes. DCC will appear when everything is correctly coded and adapted.
Could be that as I now have Golf dataset in the DCC module, it's not compatible with the Tiguan drive profiles and thus is the reason it's not showing there.
I bought another DCC module from breakers in Germany for a whopping 25€ which is from an identical car as mine. Let's see if that works any better. Of course I need to do a new basic setting but that was piece of cake. I used a DIY garage which has a pillar lift. Took less than 20 minutes to do.

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but is there a driving profile bit in the CAN gateway coding for DCC?

I had to enable one for AFS to get it to show up on my drive mode settings when I retrofitted my headlights, so I wonder if that applies here as well.

glad you are making progress. if you use experimental coding you will find a bit in the gateway that has DCC in the description, it's in german so no clue on what it does. I enabled it and the gateway did not complain, and we happen to have the very same gateway.

Yes, exactly like that. I used pillar lift to lift the car up so that all four wheels were hanging. I used ODIS to do the basic settings. Easiest is to click on the basic setting on the test list it proposes on start. Then follow on screen instructions.
Basic settings take 20 seconds :)

@Somnus. Thank you. I’ll check that. I could not see that exact bit in experimental coding. There was something like FPA_stxxxDCC.

@darchina811, you wrote on one of the earlier posts "DCC and I enabled BYTE 9 BIT 7 in gateway experimental coding." So is that the same one Somnus is writing about?

I need to check this again.

Yep, but seems that it's not that. I got advice from another location as well that DCC bit needs to be enabled in gateway and let the gateway go to rest state to actually take the change into use. But, what is the actual DCC bit?

I compared the coding to a coding of a car with DCC, and that car did not have that something something DCC bit enabled either.

So I'm puzzled, but not worried. Eventually this will sort out.

Edit:

The bit is labeled FPA_function_StufenDCC. What does Stufen mean this context?
