7N0 907 530 BC CAN Gateway / Persistent Battery Module Problem

I've updated my gateway in preparation for a MIB2 installation and noticed that with the 7N0 907 530 BC gateway, address 61- Battery Regulator shows up in the installed modules list even though I do not have it selected in Installed Modules. I get the errors for both the regulator and the gateway being unable to communicate with it. My car being a 2006 Mk5 Jetta, there is no battery regulator installed.

61- Battery Regulator goes away if I select "Module not coded" in the Long Coding for the gateway. The other two options are Platform- PQ35/PQ36 and Platform- PQ45/PQ46. Although PQ35 is the proper option, I experimented with selecting both and both selections bring back Module 61 and the associated errors. Am I affecting anything by selecting "Module not coded" to suppress the errors?

Old cars use 2 x GND wire go GW
when in NEW cars (with battery monitor system) one of that wire is going to LIN to battery
so you must remove one GND wire

ERROR: Adaptation channel not available (or words to that effect- forgot to screenshot).

New observation:
Changed "Platform" to PQ35, errors for gateway and battery regulator came back.
Cleared all codes, then re-ran full autoscan. No errors. Battery regulator gone.
Exit VCDS and power cycled ignition, errors and battery regulator are back.

None of this is causing a driveability concern. I'm just a curious person and would love to figure out the "why" behind this!

I presume it matters which one? And removing that one wire from the gateway will make it forget about trying to find a ghost battery regulator?

Thanks to all for the tips! Once I get some time I'll pull that pin from the gateway plug and tape it back.

Working on these cars is so interesting. On one hand, it's neat how modular and common many components across the years are. On the other, it's always interesting to see what kind of quirks pop up when you combine parts in "non-standard configurations".
