4F0 614 517 L, 4F0 614 517 N are for A6 vehicles with classic CC (PR 8T1) or without CCS (PR 8T0)
4F0 614 517 P, 4F0 614 517 Q are for S6. Not sure are they fully compatible with those above.

To be completely sure use PL24 and check with Your VIN or ask someone with subscription to this resource to do it for You.
I use another source of information, it has no VIN filter.

I took your info and called the parts desk of my local Audi dealer, and they confirmed that the "N" suffix is the current revision for my VIN. They were just as confused as I was as to why the AudiUSA site was trying to sell me the "J" suffix.

OK, I have an "N" suffix on order from eBay right now; I'm hoping this doesn't turn out to be a dud.

Any differences in coding that I need to be aware of, or do I just copy the existing coding from my "L" module to the new one?

I should have listened to my instincts, I knew eBay was nothing but trouble.

First sign of trouble: The seller advertised an "N" module, which is what was stamped on the hydraulic unit, but an "L" module was attached. OK, no big deal, that's the original revision in my car. After a lot of wrangling, and a drill and screw extractor because one of the stupid specialty screws stripped, I finally got it installed.

Second sign of trouble: the moment I plugged it in (with the car electrics completely turned off because I'm not a moron), it sounded like an electric motor was spinning up. My old module didn't do that. Over to VCDS, and I find (3) error codes. The expected steering angle, the G201 pressure sensor (with an unchanging pressure reading of -37.83), and 01200 - ABS Supply Voltage. It also got extremely hot in one of the top corners during the (5)ish minutes I had it plugged in.

The only silver lining here is I *MIGHT* be able to send it off to ModuleMasters and have it rebuilt, while keeping my (mostly) working module in my car. But after spending $450 on this module (because it was the only "N" module available, and I figured the newer revision is probably better), I've got to wait for the end of the week to get my next paycheck before I can do that, and then ModuleMasters has a 5-business-day turn-around...

Dragging this thread back up one more time in order to provide positive confirmation of a resolution. The rebuild module was the solution.

For anyone else who's as stubborn as me about being frugal, save yourself the headache and go straight for a replacement or rebuild module.

I'm a bit late to the party... have the same problem. ABS Fault 01435.
Mine is a 2005 A6 Quattro 3.2L

And yep, I have been to the Wiki article for this fault. I should point out that I'm just a regular Audi driver, not a tech of any sort. So please go easy on me.

Here's what happened:
A couple of days ago, the ESP and ABS lights came on. Once I started driving, the Parking Brake fault in the center came on as well. It goes off as soon as the wheels stop turning and comes back on when I start driving.
And yes, that beep can drive someone to madness. LOL

I checked the parking brake and it appears to be functioning as normal. The car drives and brakes normally.
I did have a low battery a week prior and needed jumping. So I ran a scan and it returned 4 Quiescent Current faults. It was time for a new battery, which I replaced yesterday. I ran another scan today to see if I could reset the faults, thinking maybe the voltage problem caused a glitch.

I can't seem to get it cleared. :cry:

I guess my question is, how screwed am I? :facepalm:

If it's the sensor, it can't be replaced individually, right? It would require the whole ABS to be exchange?
My second question is: this is my only car. How safe is it for me to drive it if you discount me going crazy with the BEEEEEPING each time I start rolling again? :eek:

Invested in the VCDS about 6 months after buying the car back in 2017 when it had the dreaded start/access auth module issue and turned possum on me. Got the module rebuilt. <phew>

So looks like I may need a new abs module? Is there a how to remove/replace vid? My brother will likely be doing that part of the repair. I can do any coding that may be required...

Question 1: Very screwed. You will need to replace or rebuild the module. I highly recommend ModuleMaster, they are fast and professional.

Question 2: I've seen reports in other forums where people continued driving without the module installed. They got all sorts of errors on the dash and it was generally annoying, but they did it. I DO NOT recommend doing that, simply because you will have no traction control or other safety features while your module is not installed, but it is technically a possibility. Your actual braking power is entirely hydraulic (assisted by the brake booster, which is vacuum-powered), so they will technically still work without the control module.

And for the record, I drove for several months with a faulty module before I finally broke down and sent one out for repair. I found a spare, so I never drove without my module, and that's the route I recommend you take as well.
