Hey Guys,
yesterday I tried to code Rear Light as DRL to deactivate this about 5F.
But in Light Function "A", there´s a value who´s called "Unknown (40)". I´ve checked it with German VCDS 18.9.1 and US 19.6.
My luck was, I´ve done a Backup with ODIS, so I can go back to Original value, as ODIS show value (Unknown (40)) as "nicht_definiert_28"

After Change value "Daytime running lights" there a lot of issues like some light are not working (High Beam, cornering lights ...)

Maybe I'm not understanding the problem here. If ODIS says the value original value is "nicht_definiert", why is it surprising that VCDS considers it "Unknown"? I suppose there is a minor discrepancy that VCDS shows the value as 40 (decimal) which equals what ODIS is showing as 28 (hex)?

I talked to Nils this morning and the dangerous thing is that several lighting functions stop working and you cannot change it back with VCDS because these "Unknown" light functions cannot be selected in the dropdown! Only ODIS can.

It seems that this is one of those rare pitfalls where you cannot go back.

You can go back if you make a raw hex map and then restore it.

That is what I missed in my reply, thanks! I was thinking of it ;)
Be aware that not every newbie creates a hex dump before playing around because coding is cool...

Is there any clue what these Unknown values could mean? Are these magic placeholders? What is the Illuminati's role in this case?

You missunderstood the ODIS Part. Odis says "nicht_definiert_28" so there are many other options possible with "nicht_definiert_xx". But VCDS only give value "unknown (xx)". But If I change "unknown (xx)" to "DRL" or anything else, there´s no way back to "unknown (xx)". I did a ODIS ADMAP before coding so I know the right value. But If not customer had do drive to dealer for factory reset.

Actually I never tried Raw-Hex Backup, because Iam not sure It works correct.

The amazing Part is, that these value control the DRL in Front and also flashing Light and If changed also High Beam. Car is equipped with LED Headlights

I guess, what nivananils indirectly suggests is that VCDS should also allow to change the value to one of those undefined values. Like have all „known“ functions in the dropdown, followed by the unknown values, that only the internal number is known.

If I remember correctly this is what VCP System does albeit in a crude way, ordering the possible values after their „index numbers“ creating gaps between the known entries.

RAW-HEX Adaption Backup seems working fine on this car, but customer wan´t to try it again after correct all the issues. But data seems good i will done my own research in it
