Should a basic setting need a security code?

Sorry, I started a new thread because, though linked, this is a new issue in itself.

This is where my original post is, but part of a longer conversation on TPMS.
    https://forums.ross-tech.com/showthr...enabling/page8

So I get an error when clicking Go! for a basic setting, IDE05334 for 03 - ABS module.
It says ERROR Security access required.

Even when I enter the recommended security access, same deal.

Should that even happen? Basic setting, I mean?
Are we gradually getting locked out?
I had the car in for service a few months ago, that is why I am suspicious.
Or am I simply doing something wrong, like wrong procedure, needing a special access code, that kind of stuff.

Thank you for any pointers and sorry for a duplicate post.

AFAIK the answer depends on the module hardware and software versions - there is no one answer.

    Thanks, Dave,

I didn’t think of posting the code here too, I had it on the other thread... D’oh!

    Is 40168 accepted?

    -Uwe-
The engineering problems are likely insurmountable. It would be like proposing to land a rocket booster section on a barge floating in the middle of the ocean.

    Uwe,

    Thank you for replying.

    This is what I did:
    - I tried to change the basic setting and got the error message
    - went into security, waited for the pop-up and entered the security code suggested: 40168
    - the code was ACCEPTED on that screen
    - tried the basic setting again with the same result, same error message.

Can there be multiple security access codes for the same unit?

Maybe 40168 is for coding and there is another (?) for basic settings?

Yes, multiple Logins are a common thing in control modules, especially in the ABS module.

    Thank you.

I will start a new thread and ask the question properly, because no-one seems to volunteer the answer.
