1,440 horsepower (1773 Kw), 12-rotor Wankel engine, 15.7L of displacement that weighs 375Kg:

Intended for off-shore racing boat, and built by the guy who holds the powerboat speed record from NYC->Bermuda.....

I'm curious why one would build such an engine for a boat? Turboshaft engines are available in that power range. I'd expect them to have a better power-to-weight ratio and to be more reliable as well.
The engineering problems are likely insurmountable. It would be like proposing to land a rocket booster section on a barge floating in the middle of the ocean.

Class rules? Fuel economy? It is 1,240 km (770 miles) from the Verrazano Bridge (mouth of NY Harbor) to the Bird Cage in Hamilton, Bermuda. I would think that they would need a minimum of 10 tons of fuel (@ my wildly guestimated 2 gallons/mile) to make the crossing, and I personally wouldn't want to pay the fuel bill.....

Well, if you're carrying 10 tons of fuel, then the weight of the engine isn't that much of a factor either, and a more efficient engine (think diesel) might produce a lower average weight for the trip? I've always loved the concept of Wankels, but good specific fuel consumption has never been a strong point with them.

Gotta love the Ford "detailing brush" they used:

Of course, none of this is news to many Audi owners.....
